Request Not Available

Try requesting "The Little Girl I Once Knew" on an oldies station. I was told it was "not available". Perhaps it's sort of like the verse in the Incredible String Band song "Koeeaddi There" :

... Ladybird, ladybird, what is your wish?

Your wish is not granted unless it's a fish.

Your wish is not granted unless it's a dish.

A fish on a dish, is that what you wish?

It "wasn't available" meaning the station didn't have the song on its playlist. Most oldies stations these days, and most music radio stations, period, play only "safe," conservative, well-known songs, not great gems that listeners might like.

So instead of 10-20 Beach Boys or Temptations songs, you'll only hear 5-6 regularly.

Such a shame. With all the great Top 40 music from 1955-1980, you'd think radio would find a couple of minutes an hour to spotlight a lesser-played (but equally well-known) song such as the great Little Girl I Once Knew. --Don1962 (talk) 02:07, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

AS of 2014 Internet station Oldies Project plays it.109.224.168.181 (talk) 01:22, 21 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

"he later said that the song "should've" gotten more attention than it should have."

not sure which is correct - that it should have gotten more attention than it did or shouldn't have gotten as much attention as it did — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevintimba (talkcontribs) 03:16, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
