Krylov's fable. edit

Ivan Krylov has a fable about a sheep in an unjust court which looks similar. Actually, he has a number of fables where sheep represent an oppressed weak social group, but this seems the closest. Omeganian (talk) 17:42, 2 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Good deduction! I found a couple of sources on the derivation from Phaedrus, one in French, one in English, and have added the fable to the article. Sweetpool50 (talk) 14:03, 4 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I came across another Russian fable with the same participants, though I can't find any comments. This one is by Alexander Izmaylov, The Justice of the Brutes. There, a Wolf sues the Dog for damage suffered while trying to steal a sheep. Since he takes care to bribe the court first, the verdict it "Fine and fire the Dog, entrust the flock to the plaintiff".
