One cast list edit

Please do not edit war. Use the WP:BRD system. I am very familiar with our format and presentation for musicals, and especially Edwardian musical comedies, as I have concentrated on these since 2006 at Wikipedia. We always give a full cast list for original productions, and just list the main principals for subsequent productions in the productions section or, if the article is short, like this one, just in the top section. The New York production was not as important as the original production and if you look at the sources you will see this clearly. After User Norton added an actress's name from the New York production, I moved her name up to the usual position. If you look at any of our Category:1890s musicals and Category:1900s musicals, you will see that this format is followed consistently for the Edwardian musical comedies. This article can certainly use expansion, but what it needs is a critical reception section, or a text and musical analysis section, or more information about the genesis of the musical, or, indeed, a "productions" section describing the major productions in terms of directors, choreographers, name of theatre and names of bluelinked cast members, but not more cast lists full of non-bluelinked actors. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:22, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am not in favour of a non-original cast list within this article. In my view, it is extremely helpful, if not essential, for the prominent cast member names to be given at the top of the article as this is what someone sees first. I don't have any problems with non-original performers being given a brief mention in prose form at the top of the article, but this could really do with a section of its own. -- CassiantoTalk 13:00, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, if the article expands, the names of the prominent non-original cast members could be moved to a separate "Productions" section, the way we do it in, say, The Geisha. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:34, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
