Yeah but most singles will be released in 2011, it's only the time that was released this year, but all the other songs wont be released until 2011, so you can consider the beginning as a 2011 album, right?

Funk?

The song Fashion Beats have a distinctive funk guitar at the end, and Don't Stop The Party has a very funky slap-bass. Should we add funk to genres?

Alternative Cover

I think it's that time when the next single is gonna be announced. The Peas are announcing them on three month intervals, from November to February is three months, so 3 months from February is May, so can we expect a new single this month? Giggett (talk) 18:50, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Someday

The Black Eyed Peas made a song called "Someday" for the soundtrack of "Knight and Day" but it isn't on their Album "The Beginning". They made 2 different songs called "Someday" in 2010, one for "The Beginning" and one for the soundtrack!

Genre

Wow. Lots of socks and edit warring here. Here's what we have, source-wise.

• Entertainment Weekly - "Genre: Pop", "Every song is piled high with sticky pop melodies, slick hip-hop rhythms..." Entertainment Weekly is unquestionably a reliable source. The genre is pop, with a mention of hip-hop.
• Hip Hop DX - One song "remind(s) us of their Hip Hop roots". That one song reminds them of a genre is quite different than saying the album is that genre. No help here.
• popdose - "Black Eyed Peas used to be a reasonably enjoyable (if not especially groundbreaking) rap group.", "...the group’s transition from its early days as a hip-hop troupe in the Native Tongues mold into the biggest pop group in the universe.", "Seven years since their initial pop breakthrough...", "2008’s The E.N.D. ... found the Peas dropping just about all the ties they had to hip-hop and staking their claim as purveyors of shiny pop jingles...", "...The Beginning ... completes their transition into a Euro-flavored dance/pop outfit...", "There’s a decidedly European dance flavor...", "...modern pop music...". Looks like popdose is simply a blog. No help, per WP:SPS.
• avclub - "...the former hip-hop group went pop...", "...anything resembling a rap verse is pared down to an associative chant...". AVClub is the review arm of The Onion. Previous discussion at the reliable source noticeboard has deemed it reliable. Weakly: pop.
• The Guardian - "Pop and rock", "Hip hop". Certainly reliable. Weakly: Pop rock and hip hop.

From that I take: Pop (per EW and AVClub, with a dash of The Guardian), hip hop is weakly mentioned by The Guardian, but specifically trashed by AVClub.

This type of thing has gone one of two ways in the past: Nobody comments, I make the change and suddenly everyone has comments. After a bit of that, I open some sock cases, clear those out and make the changes. The second possibility is there are a few comments, we weed out the socks and I make the changes. I'm fine with either one. Either outcome ends the edit warring here and makes it a bit easier to clean up the other articles those same socks are working on now.

I read somewhere that AllMusic was reviewing a album that their sidebar put it down as a reggae album but their review said that the album wasn't reggae. I think that's why we go for a review that states it in its review Joesob (talk) Joesob has been blocked as a sock of MariaJayHicky.

Something you read somewhere about a different part of a different source may or may not apply here. I see no indication of any problem with any part of the EW article. Genre, again

It would seem I missed an edit or two at some point. A very prolific sock who simply cannot understand that the Black Eyed Peas in general -- and a few of their albums in particular -- are pop. A few more socks have been blocked and I'd expect a few more to show up.

@SummerPhDv2.0: Hello, the genre that you removed was hip-pop, not hip hop; I added that genre before arguing with Maria's sock because the source from The Guardian says "As examples of upscale hip-pop you won't mind hearing endlessly on the radio, most of the songs hit the mark – even Fashion Beats, with its superfluous verse in French". My opinion is that discussing anything with Maria encourages her. Anything she does, I revert. When she uses an account or continues with an IP, I have them blocked. Then I ignore her. If she encourages someone else to make a change, I generally take a hard line against someone editing on behalf of a banned editor. The source calls some songs hip-pop, not the album. This is an argument she has freely used to remove a genre she dislikes, so it's "interesting" that she doesn't like it here. - SummerPhD^v2.0 17:40, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Genre, yet again

This source does not say the album is hip hop. It says, "You can probably imagine what it sounds like: minimalist drum machine beats, techno-lifted synth pulses, plinky keyboard hooks, retro-fitted hip-hop callbacks, pitch-shifted vocals, and songs that chain your brain to the furnace and beat you over the head with their cursed affability."

While I can see an argument for saying this source calls it techno (it throws the word around enough but never quite labels the album), it is a student newspaper, fitting neither our general standards for reliable sources nor our limitation on reviews ("professional"). - SummerPhD^v2.0 12:10, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
