Montreal World Film Festival

Fixed the link so that it goes to the correct festival. (Accidental use of "international" for "world" in one place, but the same festival intended: the FFM: see links in the body of the article and in the notes and external links as corrected.) Some of the articles of the particular film festivals in Montreal seem to need further editing to achieve NPOV and they need citations to reliable sources. --NYScholar 19:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Accidental perhaps, but the fact remains that the Montreal World Film Festival and the Montreal International Film Festival are indeed two entirely different (and competitive) entities. 81.129.24.19 19:30, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

It was initially a typographical error; all my other references and links and notes (if the anony ed even read them) are and were to the proper web site. (Note that the home page of the official website for the Montreal World Film Festival includes within parentheses the name "Montreal International Film Festival," indicating that the names [Montreal World Film Festival, Montreal International Film Festival] are synonymous, as far as the official site is concerned; that festival has been in existence for thirty years.) After checking the links to the non-intended festival Wikipedia articles added by the anonymous editor, I have pointed out problems of lack of NPOV and lacking citations to support descriptions in those articles. Readers need to be caution in reading those articles at those links provided by the anon. editor in the previous comment. I have placed a cleanup tag on one of those articles today and corrected some but not all of the problems. --NYScholar 20:44, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

I have checked reliable sources about the various festivals and provided citations in the articles linked in that editor's comment above. The phrase "Montreal International Film Festival" is used on the home page of the Montreal World Film Festival; it's another name for it. The rival organization is actually a one-time inaugural festival called the New Montreal FilmFest. See the linked articles. Previous editors used a French translation of "International Film Festival of Montreal" in the article; I've replaced it with the English "New Montreal FilmFest," which distinguishes these festivals from each other. Using an invented French translation for the New Montreal FilmFest is confusing these organizations. French Wikipedia is linked to articles in English. Citations that I provided distinguish among the various festival organizations and the appropriate and accepted names in English (and French; see the links). --NYScholar 00:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
