Remove OR section? edit

Similar issue to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Teleportation in fiction ... Is any of this salvageable with sources? In ictu oculi (talk) 21:58, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

The article is a model of Britannica-like EV compared to where it was as recently as [[1]]. --Wtshymanski (talk) 21:36, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 29 December 2017 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: procedural close. This is presently listed in the malformed requests section at WP:RM, and I came here wondering why. The origin page has been merged and redirected, and this is now the {{talk page of a redirect}}. Happy New Year to All! TeletransporterTeleporter – I haven’t heard of this terminology before. Wiktionary doesn’t have an entry for teletransporter, only teleporter. LaundryPizza03 (talk) 17:12, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

No, on second thoughts, this article is so bad and no one will ever fix it, and the word doesn't really exist, just redirect to Teleportation like the target and be done with it. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:09, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose This article should be deleted, not moved. Content is WP:OR and even if moved, will still be unencyclopedic.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:54, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Suggest merge to Teleportation. We can create redirects from all the different names authors have stuck on their magic carpets. --Wtshymanski (talk) 21:33, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose and suggest deletion. This should not be merged, to any target, because none of the article contents should be merged, and because redirecting the title would harm the encyclopedia by suggesting that it is a term in use when it is not. 64.105.98.115 (talk) 22:04, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment to the above: Google Books gives me about 2000 hits when I type in "teletransporter" - philosophers love to talk about this as a concept, for instance. --Wtshymanski (talk) 00:28, 31 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Merge to teleportation, it is a valid topic, as shown by Wtshyanski above, and this page contains material which could be merged. Randy Kryn (talk) 02:05, 31 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Smerge to Teleportation in fiction. The redirect is harmless. bd2412 T 18:35, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • That made the most sense. Done. Also merged the "interstellar" list. The teleportation article could be left for those exciting physics experiments in which they claim that a photon with the same quantum numbers has been "teleported" from Basel to Tokyo. Captain Kirk would be disappointed. --Wtshymanski (talk) 20:09, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
