Founding edit

TNFJ was formed by Shi'ite leader Allama Arif Hussain Hussaini

It was founded by a committee of Shia ulema, and Syed Muhammad Dehlavi of Karachi was elected its first president. After his demise, Mufti Jafar Hussain was elected its president. After Mufti Jafar Hussain's demise, the young Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini was asked by senior ulema like Ayatollah Muhammad Hussain Najafi and Allama Safdar Hussain Najafi to accept the leadership.

It was then led by Allama Hassan Turabi

It was never led by Allama Hassan Turabi. After Allama Arif Hussain's assasination, Allama Sajid Naqvi was elected the next president. Allama Hassan Turabi was the head of party in Sindh provice, like Allama Taqi Naqvi heads the party in Punjab. NEDian (talk) 11:26, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alternate article edit

This is from another version that I merged:

Tehrik-e-Jafria or Tehrik-e-Jafria-e-Pakistan (TJP, literally Movement for Shia Law) was a Shia militant group in Pakistan, which was founded in 1979. It's creation coincided with the enforcement of controversial Islamic laws by then President of Pakistan, General Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq. At the same time, 1979 Iranian Revolution in Shi'a Iran added extra confidence and comfort in the movement.

Its creation coincided with the enforcement of controversial Islamic laws by the military ruler of Pakistan, General Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq. The Islamic revolution in predominantly Shia Iran around the same time gave an added boost to the organisation. Its leader, Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini was a student of the leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini.[1]

It was formerly known as Tehrik-e Nefaz-e Fiqh-e Jafria. Allama Arif Hussain al-Hussaini, a student of Ayatollah Khomeini who founded the Iranian Revolution, was the group's leader.[1]

On October 19, 2001, TJP leader Allama Nazir Ahmed Abbas was shot and killed at his shop in the city of Vehari, located in the Punjab province. On January 12, 2002, Tehrik-e-Jafria was one of four militant organizations banned by the government of Pakistan.[2]
