Talk:Tønne (unit)

Proposed merger edit

I can see reasons both for and against merger with Barrel (unit). On the one hand, tønne corresponds closely with the dry/liquid measure. On the other hand, it is more complex (polysemous) than this by also including an area measure, which is not covered by Barrel (unit), but at Barrel of land. The article Barrel (unit) also currently lacks an international dimension, such as that found at Pound (mass). If Danish and other material is added to the article, another solution may be to rename it Scandinavian barrel (analogous to Scandinavian mile). Doremo (talk) 07:36, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

The latter option sounds good, an article for just the Norwegian barrel is a bit narrow. Manxruler (talk) 17:46, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Close the merge (as there was a consensus not to), but haven't moved the page to Scandinavian barrel as, while I can see where that the name make sense, is it actually a name that is in used elsewhere? I don't think that we can invent a name to call it. Klbrain (talk) 14:04, 27 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
