Unclear sentence

The last sentence in the section on Mead is completely unclear to me. Are there grammatical mistakes? Maybe someone could formulate it more clearly.

"A general description of Mead's compositions portray how outside social structures, classes, and power and abuse affect the advancement of self, personality for gatherings verifiably denied of the ability to characterize themselves." 95.90.247.91 (talk) 08:53, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Unreferenced "quote" from Macionis in second sentence (28.02.2024)

The second sentence of the article (which I accessed today) reads "According to Macionis, symbolic interactionism is very modern and trendy". This is not referenced and seems to have been inserted between the first two sentences of the article. 2003:F9:D733:E6E0:CD87:21F3:222B:6AD7 (talk) 17:02, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
