It Seems the overall quality of this section is terrible. There are many events omitted while Usher gets 4 sentences, only one of which relates to the Arena. I haven't edited many articles so I'm not sure how to proceed Osic (talk) 13:33, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Page name

I moved the page to the original non-sponsored name of "Sydney Super Dome", as per the naming convention for Australian sporting stadia. This is discussed in further detail here. If and when the sponsored name of the stadium changes (eg. from "Allphones Arena" to "New Sponsor Stadium", then all that needs to happen is for a page to be created named "New Sponsor Stadium" with a redirect to Sydney Super Dome. Since a majority of arenas in the world have a sponsored name, I cannot find a non-sponsored name for the Allphones Arena. Thus, I do not believe it falls under the naming conventions for venues in Australia. What's important for Wikipedia articles are common names. There isn't any print media that will refer to the arena by anything other than it's sponsored name. If anything, locals may still refer to the venue as "Acer Arena", since that was it's title for five years. What I have also discovered is the company, Sydney SuperDome Pty Limited, no longer exists. The arena has been operated by AEG Ogden since 2005 link here. Maybe something along the lines of "The Arena at Sydney Olympic Park". Perhaps a discussion is necessary for the article title. The "using the non-sponsored name" rule makes sense in a lot of contexts where there is actually a well-known non-sponsored name (i.e. Subiaco Oval, Kardinia Park, Docklands Stadium, etc.) However, some people have always tried to apply this rule across the board, even in cases where the stadium has effectively always been known by a sponsored name, which has always struck me as bizarre. We shouldn't be basically having to make up a name to avoid using the sponsored name if that's what it's genuinely mainly known by. Rebecca (talk) 04:21, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

It's rather tough to call Sydney SuperDome a made-up name. That was its official name during the Sydney Olympics [1], and was recognised by publications like The New York Times and Time magazine. As the infobox demonstrates, it was known by its original name for longer than any sponsored name. WWGB (talk) 05:20, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

As per user WWGB's comment above, the stadium was known as Sydney SuperDome from 1999 (when construction completed) until 12 May 2006. This is a well-known non-sponsored name, having been in use for over 6 years, more than the use of the "Acer Arena" name, which was in use for less than 5 years. I don't believe the Olympics argument is accurate, considering that the Olympic Committee doesn't allow sponsored names. Also, ok... it has been referenced as the Sydney SuperDome... In recent media, it will be referred to by it's new name, Allphones. I don't understand what the hiccup is. Name Style for Allphones Arena.

@WWGB: claims that the venue's name was stylized as allphones arena during Allphones' tenure as owner of the venue's naming rights. His only source is the venue's logo, as written in his edit comment, dated 08:24, April 18, 2016‎. This is obviously not text style, but simply a logo. Logos, of course, can differ from the name. Examples include Suncorp Stadium (logo style "SUNCORP STADIUM") not being written in all caps, and neither Etihad Stadium (logo style "ETIHAD STADIUM"), along with lower-case characters in logos not translating to the name as written, with venues such as U.S. Bank Stadium (logo style "usbankstadium"), Citi Field (logo style "citi FIELD"), and mixed character logos such as Levi's Stadium (logo style "LeVI'S STADIUM"). It should be noted that Allphones, from which not only the stadium's name, but logo also derives, is not written as "allphones". Should this page be moved to Sydney SuperDome

Is it possible we could move this page to the Sydney SuperDome rather then Sydney Super Dome, thoughts?
