Noble names edit
This sentence is a bit problematic: "Since Sweden is a monarchy, the government has enacted laws that prevent commonfolk from having royal names[1]." It doesn't specify whether "royal names" refers to last names or first names. The source article from CNN doesn't either. I've seen variants of this sentence in various English articles through the years. It seems like they're all referencing each other. I looked through the law from 1982 (Namnlag (1982:670)) and it doesn't mention noble first names at all. It doesn't mention noble last names specifically either, but it says this: "13 § Som efternamn, vare sig det är nybildat eller ej, får inte godkännas namn som lätt kan förväxlas med 1. ett efternamn som någon annan enligt lag bär eller har rätt att bära" which means "As a surname, whether or not it is newly formed, no name may be approved which can easily be confused with 1. a surname which any other person has by law or is entitled to bear" (sorry for weird English, I used Google translate). There are also articles online about the Swedish House of Nobility refusing to let people change their last name to a noble last name. Note that we are ONLY talking about last names here. I looked at the new law from 2016 (Lag (2016:1013) om personnamn) and it doesn't explicitly mention noble names either. I believe that commonfolk now can have noble last names as long as the noble family in question is extinct.
Many English articles about Swedish naming laws also claim that Elvis is a rejected name. This is wrong. There are more than 2000 males in Sweden named Elvis (number taken from Statistics Sweden).Sarattarius (talk) 23:47, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
On "calling name" edit
In the lead there is a link to calling name, which re-directs to hypocorism. That, in turn, is something completely different than the meaning of calling name as it is used in this article. I don't know whether there is a better article on English Wikipedia, but for now I remove the wikilink, as it is misleading. Fomalhaut76 (talk) 18:09, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
