Scandal? edit
I was wondering wether the scandal / alleged crimes should not be mentioned. If you type the name and do a web search, you will find the information / claims that I am referring to.
Of course, nobody is in a position to claim certain knowledge in that matter, but the mere fact that such allegations do exist ought to mentioned, ought it not?
Disclaimer: I have no knowledge of or contact to this person, group, or "competitors" whatsoever. I just found his name mentioned on someone's Home page and wanted to quickly inform myself who that person was, so I ended up here and on anotherr web site. Grossly contrasting images painted here and there make one wonder...

- I took a quick search of the Web and found nothing but unsubstantiated accusations and equally unsubstantiated defenses, and an easy mixture of one guru along with another (proving guilt by simply being a guru, I guess). I could not find one reliable source either way. In such a wildly speculative situation, I think it best for Wikipedia to remain silent. David Spector (talk) 01:34, 30 October 2017 (UTC)
- I visited Shyam's Ashram in the 80s (I was visiting a relative). Many of the Swami's followers lived in my home town of Montreal when they weren't in India. When the scandal broke several women spoke of having had sex with the Swami. That was not criminal obviously, but there is a code of ethics for Indian holy men, and he defied that. There was also one allegation of impropriety with an underage girl, but so far as I know nobody filed charges, so it likely wasn't true. (Though I must say that from stories I heard on other subjects I suspect the local police were poorly trained). The Toronto Globe & Mail did an exposé of Swami Shyam. One day one of his followers, visiting my house, found it in my bookcase and threw it out in anger. 41.5.240.24 (talk) 09:28, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
- This was a front page, above the fold story in a national newspaper (Globe and Mail) with a big picture and photo spread inside. The story was well covered but it gets regularly deleted from this article. Guru's devotees compensated for losses - The Globe and Mail 135.23.118.213 (talk) 22:05, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
