Untitled edit

its also worth mentioning that Suzy posed for the UK cinema poster of the French film Pussy Talk (Le Sexe qui parle)[1], but isn’t in the actual film, despite what is said on that film’s Wikipedia page. Her image was also used in the poster of another film she wasn’t in called Nympho Girls(1980, Walter Boos), probably without her consent that time.

At the very least, birth names must be reliably sourced edit

Neither Luke Ford nor IMDB is a reliable source David in DC (talk) 22:55, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you should get Ms Mandel to get in touch with the wiki front office. She would likely have to prove that it is really her. There is also the matter of possible conflict of interest. Good luck to you and Ms Mandel.: Albion moonlight (talk) 07:00, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Welcome to Wikipedia. A lot of disputes will seem very silly but the bottom line is that even if you could point to a New York Tines article that backed you up you could still be challenged and perhaps overruled by some of the others. Stay cool and try not to be frustrated into doing and or saying something that will get you blocked or banned from editing, Albion moonlight (talk) 11:46, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Its hard not to get frustrated. There are now four different references backing up this information, personally I think most people would consider that sourcing now meets a reasonable standard.

All I’m trying to do here is preserve this page's accuracy. Unfortunately others just seem hellbent on removing information based -I would argue- on their own agenda, rather than the good of Wikipedia as a research tool. --Gavcrimson (talk) 12:07, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Look for pity's sake leave Gavcrimsons work alone, it stands up to scrutiny and until now has not been altered or subject to question or ridicule, those that seek to discredit him should provide proof of what they say, they should not contest anything and should indeed be aware that Gavcrimson is a man of unquestionable knowledge and integrity, he references and dates his articles, he in my opinion is beyond reproach[discredit]and should be left alone to provide us the public with information that is beyond any of us and brings new understandings of the past, in this case Suzy Mandel and prior to this the quite lovely Mary Ruth Maxted nee Quilter [Millington] 1945-1979.Get a grip and leave his work alone for others such as myself to take pleasure in..The problem with works in the public domain as this episode and the one before it has indeed shown is there are far too many people likely to have views and alter things without providing answers. I call upon these people to put up or shut up. Rbt Foot.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.241.207.30 (talk) 13:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Luke Ford's blog and IMDB are not reliable sources. My edits are not pointless and I am not "meddling". The assertion that I am "meddling" suggests that reading WP:OWN might not be such a bad idea. All in all, the comments directed toward me are pretty incivil.
Many of my edits (changing first names to last, copy editing run-on sentences, adding wikilinks) should be uncontroversial, and again, reverting them seems to be an act of ownership
The big issue, whether birth names should be given for actors like the subject of this article remains open. I won't re-revert if you have reliable sources for the name on this page. I'll take a look in a second. But I urge you to reconsider all of your other reversions. Wikilinking London? Wikilinking The West End? Changing first names to last in an encyclopedia, surely not all of these are pointless meddling. David in DC (talk) 15:47, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've looked. I deleted Luke Ford and IMDB as sources. They are not reliable sources. The other two sources seem sketchy to me, but I have insufficient knowledge to assess them. So I've left the birth name alone. But my edits are not pointless nor is editing the same as meddling. I'd love to hear from some other folks. Gav, AM and I can't be the only ones with opinions here. I seriously suggest you take a look at WP:RS & WP:BLP if you don't understand why Luke Ford's self published website is not a reliable source and is a particular poor source for a BLP. One key point which you are perhaps not aware of is "verifiability not truth" Nil Einne (talk) 21:54, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

With regret I am deleting all of my original research to this page, as it seems in constant threat of being challenged/deleted anyway, and I no longer wish to be associated with this site. --Gavcrimson (talk) 14:42, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
