Why was it named that, any1 know?

I don't, but also curiously, there is a Sarah Constant shrine in the Ocean View area of Norfolk, Virginia which is somehow related. Vaoverland 00:09, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

I did a little research and found out that someone misspelled the name sometime in the twenty years that there was a settlement in Virginia and the Susan Constant was really supposed to be the Sarah Constant some people blamed a man named Sam Purchas but it was never really proved that it was him so basicly it was just a misspelling and thats why its so hard to find information about the Susan Constant

I realize these comment are old, but, I too have seen reference to the Sarah Constant (maybe Ocean View, but, I though I was in Newport News) anyway... This was back in the 1990's, my dad lived near by and was a history buff. We both happened upon the marker referencing the Sarah Constant.

We contacted the then state historian and asked about this. He was very surprised. He researched this and found out that there is indeed confusion on the name of the ship. It was registered in London (with Loyd's I think) as the Sarah Constant. Somehow that got changed to Susan Constant. To end the confusion, for the 350 anniversary celebration in 1957, the Va general assembly passed a resolution declaring the name of the vessel the Susan Constant.

The marker in Ocean View (or Newport News) was is older than the 1957 resolution and had never been changed. (I think the marker was even older that the highway marker program) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.1.163.157 (talk) 13:27, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Who built the Sarah (Susan) Constant

I would be grateful if anyone could supply details of who built this ship. I would very much like to know this as I have been told that it was built by my relatives 400 years ago. This statement has been made by a distant relative of mine who has researched the family tree, but there is no concrete evidence at this time. Here's hoping.... John Constant john@aimfinance.co.uk

Flag displayed in info box

I just wish to confirm, is the reason for the use of the Flag of Great Britain (pre-1801 Union Jack), as opposed to the St George's Cross, because King James had decreed that ships still identify as English whilst still flying the British flag? UnknownBrick22 (talk) 00:06, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
