How about a section on abuse? 8 million people? How many "disabled" are working jobs for unreported income? Obviously we don't have numbers. i will find a picture for this page and add additonal content joe 14:33, 13 July 2006 (UTC) I work for SSA and deal with SSI people all day. It will be very difficult to post an SSI check here because it has the claimants SSN on it. If it helps it looks exacally like a SSA Retirment or Disability check. To answer the above question no there is no extra help for giving care to parents.

I removed the request for an image of the SSI check. As noted, it looks no different from a Social Security Retirement/Disability check, and privacy considerations would prohibit posting of such an image.Vgranucci (talk) 01:29, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

how exactly does one prove they qualify for ssi? are there any resources online that list what the criteria are and procedure for getting ssi

Resources

The informatation re: resource set at $2000 in 1974 is incorrect and is incorrect in the source cited. The resource limit was originally set at $1500 for individuals and (I think) $2500 for couples. Limits went to $1800/$2700 in 1987, $1900/$2850 in 1988, and $2000/$3000 in 1989, where it has remained. The citation is correct that the resource limits have not been tied to inflation. The increases were a result of Congressional action. I will correct as soon as I find the appropriate references. Vgranucci (talk) 03:22, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Residency

Corrected good faith edit which added Puerto Rico, U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam. Residents of those places are not eligible for SSI.

Misunderstanding

"An individual in living arrangement B status will also be subject to more periodic reviews called redeterminations. This is done because it is common for a person in living arrangement B to eventually obtain rental liability or buy their food separately"

Redeterminations are not conducted to make it easier on SSI beneficiaries. They are calculated moves by SSA to cut benefits even further.

The consolidation of State programs under the Nixon administration did not make eligibility determination criteria any more fair, in fact it made the rules more harsh and demeaning.

Beneficiaries and costs table

The "Beneficiaries and costs" table is malformed, but I don't know if the "1972" corresponds to the "3,996,064" in the beneficiaries column of if the beneficiaries and cost for the year 1972 are missing. Does anyone know where that data came from? ArMaP (talk) 13:12, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
