does not make much sense. I assume what is meant is:
"The superior cervical ganglion lies anterior to the sheath of the internal carotid artery and internal jugular vein, and posterior to the Longus capitis muscle."
This is incorrect. The superior cervical ganglion of the sympathetic chain lies posterior to the carotid sheath and anterior to the Longus capitis muscle. This "assumption" was wrong.
Homeostasis edit
I have edited the lede as the SCG is NOT responsible for homeostasis: All postsynaptic sympathetic fibers distributed to the head and upper neck are derived from the cell bodies that constitute this ganglion. Homeostasis in mammals is regulated, for instance for instance by using input from thermoreceptors in the hypothalamus, brain,spinal cord, internal organs, and great veins. Blood sugar levels are regulated primarily through beta cells of the pancreatic islets. Etc etc. LookingGlass (talk) 12:35, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
