Split into its own article edit

I think splitting into Super Street Fighter II Turbo into its own article was a good idea. The argument that other users with keeping it merged with Super Street Fighter II were pretty weak. While it's technically an upgraded version, it's different enough to warrant and there's enough home version variations of both games to warrant a split. Plus, there are still people who play Super Turbo competitively (even after the release of HD Remix), while the original Super is rarely played anymore. And let's be honest, all fighting game sequels are technically upgraded versions of their predecessors. Jonny2x4 (talk) 16:19, 24 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, this article seems fine. I can't really think of anything to object to here, so (at least for me) it's all good. Although I don't think relevance in the competitive world (as much as I love watching the matches) is a good rationale for a keep if this gets challenged... I tend to disagree. The article sorely needs some references. Moreover, about half the article tends to be original research. –MuZemike 17:32, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Which parts of the articles do you find to be "original research"? To me, when another Wikipedia editor uses the term "OR", it means something sounds made-up. Be specific. Almost everything in the "Game System" and "Characters" section were taken verbatim from All About Capcom Taisen Kakutō Game 1987-2000, which was an officially licensed encyclopedia of Capcom fighting games published in Japan. Game speed edit

The game speed can never be selected to be the same as in World Warrior, Champion Edition or Super Street Fighter II, so I have changed the text accordingly. One can find more in Dammit's Turbo Frameskip Revisited article.

The possible speeds in Free Select are always 1, 2 and 3, but such speeds are different among Japanese and other versions. The Japanese version has speeds numbered from 1 to 4, while others have them starting as 0 and ending in 3, but the slowest speed from all versions is the same, the second faster is the same, and so on. Thus, you can only select the fastest speed through Free Select in non Japanese versions, and the slowest speed is only available through the same mode in the Japanese version.

As much as I respect the likes of Maj and Dammit, I don't think they pass Wikipedia's guidelines for a good source. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 18:28, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

That does not apply to games. No other such source can be obtained for videogames. Particularly, any journal, magazine or newspaper of the nineties are almost guranteed to have wrong information, and be based purely on opinion, or nothing at all. We will certainly not find a book on the issue, but the Yoga Book Hyper booklet, which does not talk about Champion Edition or Hyper Fighting, for the most part. The point is, whatever the source is, it is the only source, that and the game itself, which happens to be the main source for all properties of the game.--Jorge Augusto Alves (talk) 04:22, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I ended up removing that bit. I don't think using previous games as a comparison to the ST speeds will have any meaning to the average reader. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 02:45, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Character Color Glitch edit

A few days ago, under a different IP, I added the following to "Alternate Versions": Through a glitch, however, the original character colors can be used with the Super Turbo versions of the characters. I also made a reference to the site where I got the information: http://combovid.com/?p=1450 (Scroll down to "Selecting Original Colors")

However, StickMan deleted my addition because he didn't like my reference and said I could do better. I've never heard of this glitch before until I came across that page, so how could I honestly find a better reference?

Do YouTube videos count as reference, because that same page had a YouTube video of the glitch if you'd rather use that instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2f9gY-pKTE

I strongly feel this glitch should be mentioned because it'd be helpful to a lot of people who want to play as the Super Turbo characters with their original colors (without emulation). 24.247.134.174 (talk) 12:05, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Generally, you don't see glitches mentioned in articles for various reasons, including a plain lack of noteworthiness. It's not really worth describing a glitch that just lets you play with the original colors. If people want to know a way to do that, then there are other places to go, like Maj's site. Wikipedia is not the place for it. TheStickMan[✆Talk] 13:04, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
