Changing the title to Sunbury Pop Festival

From local knowledge and expeience in studying this topic, the festivals were known more commonly as the "Sunbury Pop Festival", rather than the "Sunbury Music Festival". I think it should be changed to the "Sunbury Pop Festival".

However, since I'm new here I guess I should leave this open to discussion for a while. Stevefrommelbourne 00:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Why was the band line-ups for each year removed?

I have an extensive list of the band line-ups for each year. Why were they removed? The Sunbury Pop Festivals were the single most remembered pop festivals in Australia and yet someone thinks that this important archival information is not important? Location

Looking at current maps the address Watsons Rd appears to be now "Holden Flora and Fauna Reserve". I was trying to work out the location so I could add coordinates. According to Call for pride of plaque in Diggers Rest the location is near "the end of Duncans Lane in the Holden Flaura Reserve", which is very close to Watsons Rd. This would put it close to 37°37′9″S 144°44′50″E. Still not enough information to place it with confidence. Billingd (talk) 13:51, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Messed up Lineups

I attended the 1973 Festival as the sound man for the REAL first American (international) band to play the Festival - Spirit featuring the Staehely Brothers, featuring John (guitar) and Al (bass) Staehely, and Stu Perry on drums. So the statement: "In 1974 the festival featured its first international act -- Queen, who were "booed off the stage to screams of 'go back to Pommyland, ya pooftahs'," is totally incorrect. The main reason that it would be possible to miss the correct lineup not including the Staehely Brothers is that they had a recording agreement at the time with Epic Records. After I had the sound set up, I joined an Epic Exec in the recording truck to insure that nothing was recorded, as we had no agreement in place about the legal status of the tapes, afterwards. Also, I notice that the lineup is incorrect. The one shown for 1972 actually looks more like the one from 1973, when Spectrum played, as well as their "mirror-image" band, the Incredible Murtceps. Our band played a couple of bands before Spectrum played, as they were considered to be the "Headliner" of the night, and the crowd's acceptance of this position was not only well received, it was obvious that they held the band in very high esteem. I think Spectrum went on around 10:30PM, but it's hard to remember all the details now. I do remember that they had one of the most incredible drummers I've ever seen. He was beyond tasteful, and this was after touring with the Staehely Brothers, with Cozy Powell as their new drummer in the States, just months earlier. Cozy was a preeminent drummer indeed, but this young man with Spectrum was in a league of his own. It was sort of funny to watch all the guitar players watching him onstage, drooling and daydreaming what it might be like to play with this guy. I know that John Staehely asked him straight out if he wanted to come back to the States with us. Cozy had left the band and gone back to England because his girlfriend didn't like Southern California... Sheesh! Anyway, the bit about the first non-Australian band needs correcting first. There were other bands that could have easily been considered the "Headliner" but after Spectrum played it was basically downhill, with lots of heavy drinking and other recreational abuses. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zmartmoney (talk • contribs) 00:13, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
