Errors edit

I have not followed this movie completely, but as I am watching it, I notice 2 glaring errors that appeared in this movie, and they involve the songs:

Machine's "There But For The Grace Of God Go I", and First Choice's "Let No Man Put Asunder", were recorded and released in 1979. If I'm not mistaken, David Berkowitz was already behind bars by that time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CookyMonzta (talkcontribs) 07:28, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

No mohawks in '77? edit

"In a slight glitch, the spiked up and mohawk haircuts sported by Richie probably would not have been seen on punk rockers in 1977. These hairstyles became commonplace from about 1980 onwards but have obviously been added to emphasise Richies punk rocker character"

This makes no sense to me. To the best of my recollection (as someone who went to punk clubs in NYC in '77), mohawks and spiked hair certainly did exist in the punk scene well before 1980. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Psychlist (talkcontribs) 15:41, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

No mohawks in 1977? Must have been written by somebody who wasn't around. Check out Robert DeNiro's 'do in Taxi Driver, released in early 1976, which may have started or at least contributed to the mohawk impulse. ññññ (no tildes on my Spanish-laanguage keyboard) brianallancobb@hotmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.151.99.94 (talk) 12:14, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

mmmm...in every picture I found of the CBGB crowd circa 1976/1977 nobody wears a mohawk similar to the one Brody has in the movie (but someone sports a 'Taxi Driver' mohawk, a lot less 'extreme'). He looks more like an english punk à la Exploited to me... (kleppini) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.35.133.1 (talk) 22:40, 16 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Jimmy Breslin edit

Why isn't he mentioned? AnonMoos (talk) 15:43, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Themes" section removed edit

I have removed the Themes section as it is entirely unsourced and original research. Do not readd the information without citing sources. The original contents are as follows:

The film uses the murders as a backdrop to investigate scapegoating, intolerance, xenophobia, and the tendency to identify misfits within a community with evil that falls upon it. Lee uses references to The Who and punk rock to point out Richie's outsider status (as most of the residents of the neighborhood prefer disco music), and the band's music to provoke violent images through collages within the film.

Summer of Sam on the NC-17 list edit

For what reason is Summer of Sam on the same NC-17 category as movies whose ratings were surrendered or movies which were edited to R rating? 67.41.88.144 (talk) 19:53, 23 August 2010 (UTC) Temple University IPReply

Lack of citations and plot edit

Firstly, the plot section is FAR too long and detailed. It needs to be cut down. I haven't seen this movie in a few years, so I don't think I'm the best one to do it. Anyone who's seen it recently or is quite familiar with it should take on that task. Also, the lack of citations is obvious. I tried to add one because I found a source regarding Idina Menzel's scene being cut, but couldn't because that particular site (idina-here.com) is blacklisted on Wikipedia (for spam, supposedly, which I found curious). I'll try to get it whitelisted in this instance, as this article badly needs citations! If anyone could assist me with getting it whitelisted, I'd appreciate it. Unfortunately, I couldn't cut down on the plot because I haven't seen the movie in some time, however, I did add some references and cleaned up the "we" and "you" language in the article. As for the references, I did find that the movie was going to be NC-17 until Lee made some cuts, but didn't find what specific scenes were cut. That is why I left the 'citation needed' tag. Not sure, maybe it's on the DVD commentary, too? Chrisball96 (talk) 14:41, 21 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orgy scene edit

Didn't Dionna have sex with another woman (actually sandwiched between two women) and Vinny later gave her trouble for being a lesbian?2A02:2454:984D:D00:588C:DFEE:352:9A66 (talk) 13:41, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
