"though her biography and work are generally left out of the history"

I don't want to just barge in and rewrite the lead sentence, but I'd like to suggest removing that passage. She was recognized by her peers, that's well-documented, and while it's true that she's been neglected by historians in the past, in recent years there appears to have been more attention paid to her. That her contribution has been under-appreciated by some is certainly worth mentioning in the body of the article, but why lead off with that, as though it defined her? --Rosekelleher (talk) 16:32, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Do we really need the Quotes section?

I've seen "Critical reception" sections, usually in articles about individual films, but also sometimes in articles about film directors. They're usually not just a bullet list of quotes, though, there's some generalization being made (see Shirley Clarke#Reception for example). The way it is now, it reminds me of the promotional blurbs you see on the back of a book, i.e. not entirely appropriate for an encyclopedia.

Also, some of the quotes in that section are duplicated in articles about the films, and one (the Vanderbeek quote) is partly duplicated in the main text of the same article. To be honest, I think the whole section should just be deleted.
