Blog edit

I have removed the sentence that said that Camp's blog attacked Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort. Although his blog criticises one event in which they were involved, his blog also affirmed his respect for Cameron and Comfort and his agreement with the theology behind their ministry. That is hardly an attack--rather, just a minor criticism. Pftaylor (talk) 14:44, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would not remove the sentence about his attacks, since that is one of the few items that speaks to his character. The rest of this article is far from neutral, reading more like a speaker/musician promo. The first part of the "career" section needs some serious re-writing. I'm not sure what it's trying to say - that Steve Camp was able to bypass all normal paths to linguistic and theological training? All-in-all this strikes me as a promotional piece. Or self-promotional. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wasrts (talkcontribs) 00:54, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The language about the Cameron/Comfort blog item definitely does not belong in the Intro, which should only review those things for which the subject is best-known. I might have moved the language down to the "Radio show and writing" section, except that the only citation for this language is to the blog itself. There is no evidence that this writing of Camp's had any impact outside the few readers of his blog, thus I have deleted it as not encyclopedic. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 17:42, 19 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Serious" edit

What constitutes a "serious musician"? And why no mention of his wife divorcing him, which in the eyes of some of his Christian music fans damaged his credibility? (frankenc) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.238.143.40 (talk) 18:29, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'd agree with frankenc that the phrase "serious musician" probably violates NPOV. I'd say simply removing "serious" is sufficient. If we want to make a statement regarding the artistic quality of his music, that is better done through quotations in album reviews, mentions of awards received and the like. Quality of writing edit

Wow, this article is horribly written! It's disorganized, and some sentences, such as the two following, make absolutely no sense:

"Among many other college professors Steve had studied under, Camp didn't go through his academic circles for his theological or musical training. He did exactly that; hence, he received intense working knowledge of Scripture and theology, mastering the Greek language, and he has accomplished a library of historical and theological works."

Also, the biography section is seriously lacking; it jumps from his early career to his divorce and remarriage.

Article needs a serious rewrite by someone who knows the history so that accuracy is not lost in the process. Spiritquest (talk) 14:39, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Have to agree, this article is a dog's breakfast; and it used to be better.... A large part of it has been swiped from Steve's site and then rewritten into unintelligibility! Anyway I'll do my bit by adding the actual date of Camp's remarriage (with an impeccable source). (Stephen AAGarrick (talk) 15:48, 29 December 2010 (UTC))Reply
