Practical usage of the buffer edit

I would expect that the first paragraph explains what the stencil buffer is actually used for. After reading the whole article, I have still no clue what the stencil buffer is about. So it limits the amount of rendering, in which way? How can it be used to accomplish what? --93.220.248.190 (talk) 01:05, 30 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is used to draw contents only at places specified by the stencil buffer. Just like a stencil limits the place where you can paint or write. See the opengl initialize stencil+draw content example given below. 174.62.79.67 (talk) 07:10, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

@above: If it's just a boolean then why waste an entire byte/pixel?

If you do not already know what it is, then you can hardly figure it out from this article! It does not help at all! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.249.128.210 (talk) 20:11, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

What is the "problem of deep struggle?" edit

@Oranjelo100: Some parts of this article use terms that are not clearly explained: this section describes a "problem of deep struggle," but I couldn't find a definition of this phrase. What does it mean here, specifically? Jarble (talk) 22:13, 4 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Deep struggle sounds like a poor round-trip translation of Z-Fighting. The two sections that use this term read like they were written via a DeepL translation or by someone with English as a second language. 2001:569:7797:EF00:80B3:E040:E6CA:6870 (talk) 20:39, 28 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
