@MikeFloate: I am copying this post here , as Crown Woods was an innovative place. Descriptions on how to use the daybook were in section c14 of the 1998/9 staff handbook, but nothing of the history. Primary source alas.

Prior to this Crown Woods had been recognised as a leader in true comprehensive education and visitors from around the world came to learn from the outstanding work of the committed and dedicated staff. Among the initiatives and ideas many involved pastoral work, which in a school of 2000+ was vital. The concept of the day book, now widely used as a student planner, was developed at Crown Woods. The role of the tutor within a strong house system was regarded as vital and numerous current and retired headteachers took their first steps in that role, which many regarded as the most important part of their job. The Inspection mentioned above came shortly after an Ofsted visit which did not fail the school and staff were shocked to hear their judgement. The reasoning behind their decision and the need for their visit was never adequately explained. User:MikeFloate

We can take Mikes memory as fact- but on Wikipedia we need sources.Help needed. I am also interested on The Lodge, the residential unit and as always copyright free photographs.
