Multimedia Campaign edit

Does it really need to be there? There's nothing under it.--Kondrayus (talk) 01:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC) I'll take this out for now. It does seem iirelevant. If you feel I am wrong in this descision, feel free to change it back :D Irreama (talk) 12:41, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dammit, it's not on PC. How dare you LucasArts! DaedraEater (talk) 10:30, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Killing Stormtroopers edit

How come if your Darth Vader's secret apperntince you a show electrocuting stromtroopers who are also bad guys??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.102.5.155 (talk) 19:38, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Though this isn't quite the appropriate place to ask, the explanation I've heard is that the secret apprentice is so secret that the Empire proper can't know about him; hence, he needs to cover his tracks, even if it means wiping out stormtroopers. EVula // talk // // 20:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, that's been articulated in one of the various preview articles -- probably one linked in the game article's ref. section. --EEMIV (talk) 23:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not particularly covering his tracks, the emperor doesn't know about him, therefore the stormtroopers don't know who he is, so they view him as a threat.--Kondrayus (talk) 22:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've looked at dozens of videos and trailers, and there is one that shows the secret apprentice fighting Vader - I think that one of the 'routes' that the player can follow may involve salvation through confronting Vader, although this task is doomed to fail, because Vader has to live at the end of it. Confusing... TheMoridian 13:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
In the game you are specifically told to kill anyone who sees you including stormtroopers. You are also playing a character who is at some points in the game amoral. Even when the stormtroopers are there to help you, you will end up killing many of them just because they are in the way. To put this into perspective, consider how Vader kills one of his general just because the guy disagrees with him. Dark side = mean and nasty.... so you get to have fun killing people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Parkman777 (talkcontribs) 04:10, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

CREATE A JEDI/SITH edit

In Star Wars the Force Unleashed there will be a time where you can make your own customized character and choose what sort of lightsaber you want him to have.Plus in story there will be when you have to switch up characters from the Darkside and the Lightside —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.118.134.198 (talk) 20:00, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I remember reading somewhere that that particular feature is only available on certain platforms. And it can't be added into the article until the game has been released, or LucasArts have made a formal statement regarding it - otherwise its speculation. TheMoridian 09:24, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Beginning of Star Wars The Force Unleashed edit

At the beginning of Star Wars the Force Unleashed you will play as Darth Vader on the Wookie planet and is in search for a Jedi hidden by the Wookie Warriors and as Darth Vader is about to deliver the final blow his lightsaber just flew from his hand and went into a young Jedi's hand.Darth Vader kills everyone around him and says come with me to the Jedi,a few years later the Apprentice has gotton older and wants to prove to Darth Vader that he is a true Jedi so Darth Vader sends him to planets to hunt down the rest of the Jedi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.118.134.198 (talk) 18:20, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Similarities to Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader book. edit

The opening of the game seems very similar to the Rise of Darth Vader book by James Luceno. Vader is on Kashyyyk trying to kill the Jedi there. Should this be mentioned in the game article?Metalb (talk) 23:07, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I know this is a bit late, but the first level of the game is probably meant to be the same mission Vader undertakes in Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. Jasca Ducato (talk) 19:15, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No PC version edit

Something should be written about no PC version controversy. --85.237.184.10 (talk) 09:05, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Provide a reliable source substantiating the claim that there's a "controversy" and it can be included. --EEMIV (talk) 11:01, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
What is a "reliable source" for a controversy? How about you just enter "the force unleashed" +pc in google and look at the hits. The game's gonna be released for every platform short of a toaster oven (even for the n-gage) but not for PC. Of course there's a controversy. 93.104.122.196 (talk) 00:19, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at the reliable source policy linked in this and my preceding comment. --EEMIV (talk) 03:21, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Characters edit

I added all the characters listed here: http://www.gamepro.com/nintendo/wii/games/previews/173608.shtml, if there is a problem, let me know, and I'll make sure not to do it again. YuanTi101 (talk) 18:59, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wii Version? edit

so on the site it says there will be wii version i am wondering how different this version will be to the xbox360 and ps3 dose any one know? all i know is that the wii version will have a dueling mode that the other platforms wont have.75.165.124.46 (talk) 21:30, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The wii Version will have a dueling mode, and the graphics will be a bit downgraded, but not horrible, and it will easily be up there with the top 10 wii games for best wii graphics. The stroy will also be slightly more indepth, meaning more explanatory cinematics, and it will have the most in depth usage of the wiimote combined with a lightsaber and force powers of any star wars wii game so far. It's controlls are also supposed to more intruiging than the other consoles, but then again, it's the wii, so that goes for all its multi console games. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.174.198.212 (talk) 00:04, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well the Euphoria engine doesn't work on the Wii. The Playr review put a lot of stock on how Euphoria drives the game - with destructable scenery and the way the enemies react when attacked. I have no idea what graphics engine the Wii version will be using... but it's bound to be noticably different graphically. - JohnDoe244 (talk) 14:53, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

'Starkiller' revealed edit

His name is Jacob Nion Katana Geldar 12:33, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wookieepedia is not a reliable source, and it cites this claim to an unpublished book. We should wait for a reliable, accessible source substantiates this. --EEMIV (talk) 15:12, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
In Gemany, the TFU-novel is released, is the German novel a reliable source? 84.176.214.28 (talk) 09:42, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It would appear that his name isn't "Jacob Nion" in the English version of the novel. Someone over on Wookieepedia has provided photographic evidence in the form of pictures of his copy of the english version, which is appearantly out in Sweeden, that seemingly prove that the characters name is "Galen Marek. Though, i'm not sure if the version released in Sweeden will be the same as the one released here in the U.S., so the name might change again. 96.233.177.215 (talk) 15:18, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow, this is pretty small... edit

This article is amazingly small for a game release such as TFU. There is plenty of cited info on the game: locations, characters, events, and so forth, but most fails to be here. Just kind of surprising for a Wiki page on a game that around my area is very anticipated.Jigsaw 541 (talk) 11:50, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Jigsaw 541Reply

All those things you mention are total gameguide trivia inappropriate for inclusion here. See WP:VGSCOPE. --EEMIV (talk) 11:52, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I gotta call bull crap on that one. Take a look at pages of games such as Halo, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and others, that are immensely huge, and then take another look at this page. Exactly. Regardless it doesn't matter, just felt like defending the pages right to have more info on it. 66.206.48.190 (talk) 12:54, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Jigsay 541Reply

Please assume good faith and maintain a civil tone. For one thing, all of the games you mentioned above have, ya know, already been released -- there's more information about them floating out there. The Mass Effect article is weighed down by gameguide trivia; it should be cut down rather than the TFU article expanded to mirror it. The BioShock article, on the other hand, is not as weighed down by trivia; it would be nice if the TFU article could become as thorough. Note, though, that the BioShock article's content is entirely substantiated by a variety of sources. Note, too, that the bulk of the article is about the game's development and critical reaction -- it's a not a bunch of trivia. By all means, if there are sources out there with information about TFU's development (probably there's lots), and when there are reactions to the actual game upon release (I can't wait!), add their content to this article and cite them. --EEMIV (talk) 14:35, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and I just noticed this: this isn't even the video game article. Check out the text and link at the very top of the article. --EEMIV (talk) 16:08, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Great, I feel like a dumb ass now. Sorry bout that, I honestly didn't realize this page was for TFU as a franchise/series and not the game itself. Forgot about how many different media formats this story is being published on. Again, my fault, and I already knew that a lot of those page's length was due to the fact that they were already released, but I couldn't think of any games not yet released to use in comparison. Regardless, it doesn't matter, as I was comparing them to the wrong page in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.206.48.190 (talk) 11:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I added the section on the "Advanced Technology". It's currently un-ref-ed but the information I added is available on the TFU website, and in several news articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Parkman777 (talkcontribs) 04:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Different Endings (SPOILERS) edit

SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Extended content

I know the story isn't allowed to be posted but there are different endings to this game. So since I haven't read the book, which is accepted as official "canon"??? The light side has Marek sacrificing himself to help the rebels escape and thereby is essential in the formation of the rebel alliance, while the "dark" ending has Marek killing Vader which leads to him being damaged and rebuilt by the emperor as his new "vader-like" apprentice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.83.80.13 (talk) 07:32, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The light-side ending is canonical. --EEMIV (talk) 11:13, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

I've removed the logo. The article is 100% as clear without the image as without it; its addition doesn't substantially add to our understanding of the topic, and its absence doesn't hurt us, i.e. it fails to meet WP:NFCC #8. There's no discussion, commentary, etc. on the logo, either, making it inapt to include. --EEMIV (talk) 03:07, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Is this article needed? edit

While not at all a pre-requisite, but most franchise pages have at least three main entries, and context surrounding them. It is the reason as to why series articles for the likes of Draft:The Last of Us (franchise), and Draft:Marvel's Spider-Man are waiting in draft space. Sure, exceptions are made for franchises with 2 entries and a ton of supplemental material, but this really does not seem to be the case here. It simply lacks the widespread nature of other star wars multimedia projects such as TOR and High Republic. The third game section can easily be added to the second game's page (on which it is already present), and then the print material/merchandise on the first, under a Tie-in media section.
