What is this? edit

I found this very strange reading and assume it's written from a US perspective. I first assumed that it refers to evetns with only standing room, the kind I prefer. But it seems to be written from the perspective that seats are the standard and standing room is an added option. In Europe for most events that is the only way around. There is also the suggestion that this refers mainly to sporting events. Is that where the term comes from? And is it a US term? Also, if it's about events where there are seats, why is it called 'standing room only'? DirkvdM 16:57, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
