The Vale Royal volume of the local history series [Local History Group, Latham FA (ed.). Vale Royal (The Local History Group; 1993) (ISBN0 9522284 08)] states on p57 "There are doubts as to the chapel's exact dedication in early times and the full dedication may have been to St. Mary, St. Peter and All Saints. Interesting: but writing in 1816 Ormerod states "The church is dedicated to St. Mary and All Saints." This is taken, admittedly from Helby's edition written between 1875 and 1882, but where Helsby has made alterations to Ormerod's text, he indicates it - there is no such indication here. So that seems that this was the dedication in the early 19th century. I don't think Latham's offering merits any amendment to the text of the article, do you? --Peter I. Thanks, that looks good. I think the series is essentially self-published by the society so there's no place of publication as such, but the printer is given as Whitchurch, Shropshire, if that's any help. Espresso Addict (talk) 09:19, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
