Oldest Franchise

The franchise that began as the Providence Reds in 1926 is also still in existence. It became the Binghamton Dusters, Binghamton Whalers, and Binghamton Rangers, and is currently the Hartford Wolf Pack. Furthermore, from what I can tell it never missed a season, unlike the Indians. ccwaters 13:16, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

The Indians never did either. The franchise was never suspended, it just moved to Buffalo and Syracuse respectively. Ravenswing 05:32, August 24, 2005 (UTC)

From what I understand, during WWII, Springfield players were loaned to the Buffalo Bison which was a wholly separate franchise that existed before and after that consolidation. The Buffalo Bison were not the Springfield Indians. Anyway, that's not really the point of this: I think that if you mention that the Indians<->Rivermen are the oldest running franchise you should also note that they share that title with the Reds<->Wolf Pack. ccwaters 12:40, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Indians' affiliation - 78-79

The Indians were affiliated with the Los Angeles Kings in 1979, not the Oilers. The New England Whalers had a number of people on the squad as well. Walking down the roster, I found one player whom I could identify as an Oilers' farmhand, which is certainly not enough to put the team in the Oilers' category. Snoop Dogg

I'm not quite sure how this would fit in, but maybe worth noting that in Snoop Dogg's classic "Gin and Juice" music video he is wearing a Springfield Indians jersey in a few shots. It is probably the most recognition this jersey may have received outside of hockey circles.

• Quite possibly, but in the 70 year history of the team, SD wearing the team jersey in a video doesn't even register. If we start adding those trivial "In popular culture" to sports teams, the sections will dwarf the rest of the articles. Ravenswing 21:44, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
