• Long enough at 2,638 characters (380 words). Started 6 November, so fine. Sources include BBC, Le Monde, Sermitsiaq and Jyllands-Posten, which are good enough for an ongoing case. Prose are good to fine. The hook is more than attention grabbing, as this is a shocking case. Earwig throws up 11.5%, although that maybe because two of the major sources are in Kalaallisut or Danish; I'm going to accept good faith here. Only quibble is that in the "Investigations and reaction" section, so the government instituted a program to control and genocide the population should contain the original quote in parenthesis. I added a quote from the article, but I am unsure if this is a direct quote from Høegh-Dam; Sermitsiaq (in my experience) rarely uses quotation marks, even for direct quotes. Earwig at 11.5% is very low, the worry is that the tool might not pick up on similarity to other language sources. But as said, will AGF as the nominator seems credible wrt use of eng sourcces. Having read the English sources, ALT0 is my preference. Would like to see this as the lead hook when scheduled. Kudos to Urv. Ceoil (talk) 03:18, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Rename article

I do not feel like the current article title is properly descriptive. I surveyed the English-language sources and they do not use the terms we have adopted. Therefore, let us feel free to retranslate a more proper term for this. "Spiral case" is problematic because it has the connotation of a single "case" or incident, which it clearly is not. "Spiral" is also less than perfect because it is very general and it is a literal translation of the Danish. I would say that the best title, and idiomatic translation, would be "Coil campaign": IUDs are often described as containing or consisting of coils, and the "campaign" part is both a literal translation and a description of the ongoing and systemic nature of it all. No, the best title would be compulsory sterilization in Greenland. Unfortunately there were probably others, such as the ones referenced in compulsory sterilization § Denmark. I can see how case implies a singular incident, but I intended it in the sense of a singular investigation. I'm OK with "campaign", though I find spiral a better description of the IUDs likely used in this case. To me (and thinking of Naja Lyberth's testimony), spiral invokes burrowing, invasion, and a struggle between smooth muscle and a curved apparatus. Coil and spiral share the connotation of inhuman and foreign, so ultimately not a big deal. Urve (talk) 03:56, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Passive voice

Why is the article tending to adopt passive voice? Like "Thousands of girls and women ultimately had IUDs placed without their consent," and "thousands of Greenlandic Inuit girls and women had intrauterine devices (IUDs) inserted" and ... . --Mhhossein ^talk 14:52, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Unintentional but I appreciate your fixing it. Mhhossein, you may find sources like this interesting, which connect this government-fueled campaign with other human rights abuses, including the little Danes experiment and legal fatherlessness. I'm unsure how to properly write up those connections (which have appeared in other sources, too); if you or someone else wants to take a stab, or create an article like human rights abuses in Greenland/human rights in Greenland (or another title), I'd be happy to lend a hand.
