Request for Resolution

Author of the book that is the subject of this article here. I would like to try to resolve the issues that have been raised about my editing of this article. When I first discovered that this article about my book existed (around February 2011) the tone was far from neutral. Moreover, the article was inaccurate, misleading and in places (from my perspective) virtually libellous, particularly over the way it handled the rape section. It was difficult to believe that the original author(s) had actually read Sperm Wars. My suspicion is that they had read only reviews and even then only the negative ones. There are plenty of positive reviews out there (from both scientists and journalists) but not one was cited to provide some sort of balance. I waited for a few weeks for a third party to restore some neutrality to the piece but nobody did, so in the end I did so myself. I tried to retain the critical element of the original article (I can live with criticism) while correcting inaccuracies, adding references to original scientifical work (some, but by no means all, from my own laboratory) in places where the original author(s) of the article seemed to be implying no evidence existed, and so on. If anybody feels I have overstepped the mark on any particular issue and made it more positive than is merited then please let us discuss and resolve the matter here. I am totally open to comments. My only interest here is that this article about something that is important to me ends up accurate and balanced. Rrobinbaker (talk) 09:55, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so much Mr. Baker. PC has almost completely eroded the ability of the free thinker to express their views or even state scientific facts that don't fit the mainstream narrative. Wiki is no different (of course they claim to be "neutral" and excuse bias behavior by using the word itself) and this is why I never donate money to an organization that is not truly neutral. What I loved about "Sperm Wars" was the straightforward honest facts obtained through the scientific method without regard to what "society" finds acceptable. My concern about this treatment of Dr. Baker's research is that the documentation for this Wiki article is dated. Only one research article is cited since the publication of the book, which happened in the mid-90s. More research is this area is available now, and it would either support or contradict Dr. Baker's findings. Much of Dr. Baker's perspective seems to me drawn from sociobiology, which is fine, but there are other approaches based on scientific research and social construction theory, especially related to gender and sexual orientation. Recent research into transgenderism would recontextualize Dr. Baker's findings. Hifrommike65 (talk) 15:38, 3 December 2019 (UTC)
