I removed the assertion "Spencer used the patented formula from Shiro Takemoto" from the article as I can find no evidence to support it. It was added to the article in 2011 by an anonymous contributor (IP user, no other edits before or since). No citation was supplied. Searching Google Patents for Takamoto's inventions yields only patents filed by Takemoto between 1977 and 1989, clearly later than 3M's product. The nearest is "Method of making matrix free thin labels" which he submitted while working at Avery. It specifies no specific, new adhesive formulation, but a range of possible adhesives either unpatented or patented by others.
