Southside Slopes → South Side Slopes — In the census, this neighborhood is referenced as the "South Side Slopes". See [1]. --Battlefield1181 (talk) 16:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Support per WP:UCN. The majority of sources cited in the article use "South Side" and not "Southside". dissolve^talk 18:05, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Wait a minute here, the official city of Pittsburgh website lists these neighborhoods as "Southside Flats" and "Southside Slopes" respectively. Check their website: http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/cp/maps/south_side_flats.html .

I personally think that both spellings should be listed as acceptable, for example, like on the South Side page it says, "South Side (sometimes written as Southside)", and for the North Side it says "North Side (sometimes written as Northside)". I've seen both spellings on official as well as unofficial documents and references out there. The spelling differences should be noted in the articles, and both spellings should still link to the main page (regardless of how it is decided to spell it here on Wikipedia; with a space between "South" and "Side" or not). I personally think the two South Side neighborhoods in question here look better spelled "Southside Flats" and "Southside Slopes", but that's just my opinion (and that's the way the official city of Pittsburgh website spells it).

Also, I made sure to note that the North Side and the South Side are not actual Pittsburgh neighborhoods, but are areas of the city. For example, the North Side contains the following neighborhoods: Allegheny Center, Allegheny West, Brighton Heights, California-Kirkbride, Central Northside, Chateau, East Allegheny, Fineview, Manchester, Marshall-Shadeland, North Shore, Northview Heights, Perry North, Perry South, Spring Garden, Spring Hill-City View, Summer Hill, and Troy Hill. I went down to the South Side today, around the old South Side Market Building, and above the sign that said, "Muriel Street", it also said, "South Side Flats". Since the street signs spell it that way, then the city of Pittsburgh's website might not list the official spelling on their neighborhood map. I don't know, but I asked some folks how they think it should be spelled, and they basically said, "Either way, but 'South Side' is the traditional way." Contradiction

The article is called "Southside Slopes" but is also referenced as "South Side Slopes." --Battlefield1181 (talk) 16:52, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Now the article reads: "Southside Slopes (sometimes written as South Side Slopes)", so it's not really that contradictory anymore because both spellings can be found in print and are reasonably acceptable. Leepaxton (talk) 12:13, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi guys, nice start. Some concerns: There are some repetitions in the first section ("Pittsburgh is one of 3 cities that boasts public staircases" for example). Also, watch the neutral tone in the paragraph that starts "SS park is a BEAUTIFUL city park..." Much of this paragraph has an endorsement-type tone. Keep it factual. Coming into the project, the article was initially worded that way. See the edit before the assignment. We have decided not to touch these portions, since they have been long standing in the Wikipedia community, although it does seem like it is not a neutral tone. --Battlefield1181 (talk) 18:55, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
