Talk:South London line/Archive 1

Split edit

I suggest the two lines should have separate articles. They have very little in common, so there's little value in having one article. The Crystal Palace service is rarely if ever even called a "South London Line". --Mr Thant (talk) 09:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Renaming? edit

At present there are two articles, this "South London Line" and "London Victoria to London Bridge via Gipsy Hill" (which avoids such railwayish words as "route" or "line", heaven help those wishing to go that way by dog-cart or velocipede.) Other railway articles and maps speak of the "Inner South London Line" and the "Outer South London Line" which appear to have become shibboleths excluding the uninformed. Unless a cogent case can be made for the status quo the two articles should be renamed to "Inner South London Line" and "Outer South London Line".--SilasW (talk) 20:41, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

POV section edit

There's a long rambling section about the politics surrounding the Victoria service and the Overground takeover, written by an anonymous user. While this insteresting information may or may not be correct, in its present form is has numberous problems:

There was also some fairly informative, referenced text which was deleted at the same time of the POV rewrite, which I would like to see restored in some form. Can this section please be rewritten very soon in a more neutral tone, citing sources (newspaper articles etc)? If not, it will have to be removed. Cnbrb (talk) 14:41, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Three weeks on, no further updates so I'm restoring the previous content and removing the unsourced soapbox-style content which was added by an anonymous contributor.Cnbrb (talk) 19:10, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

London Overground edit

London Overground operation of this line has now been put back to late 2012 at the earliest due to financial issues, and the proposed Surrey Canal Road station has now been cancelled 82.26.54.207 (talk) 01:11, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Victoria to Bellingham edit

The Victoria to Bellingham (via Wandsworth Road) proposal is definitely no longer viable as the down platform at Battersea Park is now disused. As of October 2013 the Atlantic Line now terminates at Battersea Park with a buffer stop.81.96.5.233 (talk) 22:22, 23 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is still possible as trains could bypass Battersea Park by using Southeastern's route into Victoria. Likelife (talk) 08:20, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Future developments edit

'Construction is due to start in 2013, and the station could open in 2015, depending on the pace of housing development in the vicinity.' Has it begun? Jackiespeel (talk) 23:17, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
