Shouldn't two other fighter-related facts be mentioned here?
The first, while not very important and necessary at all, is that ROKAF originally chose the F/A-18 over the F-16 for their replacement for the F-5, but after prices rose, they opted to choose the F-16 instead.

The second, which is recent news, is that Korea decided to cancel the additional 20 orders of the F-15K, and select between the Lockheed Martin F-35, Dassault Rafale, EADS/BAE Eurofighter Typhoon, Sukhoi Su-35 (Su-27M) "Flanker-F" or Boeing F-15K. 1 fighter has been dropped, and reports claim that two additional fighters has been dropped as well, for a 2 fighter race.
Update: The competition for the Phase 2 F-X is between the Eurofighter and the F-15K, and a Phase 3 F-X has also been initialized with the only candidate as of now being the F-35. The winner is stated to be announced before 2015. Phase 2 winner will be stated before 2009.
