Copyvio edit

The History section is a direct copy of text from the SARL web site, and I've flagged it as a Copyright Violation. I added an infobox, the organization logo (with appropriate Fair Use Rationale) and added section headers and a few references. The History section needs to be completely replaced with non-copyvio material, and the other sections need to be converted from lists to prose with citations.--Kharker (talk) 17:24, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I will attempt a rewrite and at the same time shorten the section considerably as there is a lot of "padding" in the current copyvio text anyway. I will post my rewrite text here first for review and comment before posting it to the article page. After tha I will try to tackle the "lists". I will also post a call for assistance on the SARL online forum (I am a member). Roger (talk) 20:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rewrite edit

Does anyone know when the Relay was dropped from the title South African Radio Relay League? Hannes. 21 February 2008 , 12:47 UTC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 57.67.145.130 (talk) 12:48, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It looks like the rewrite is going quite well. The history is fairly well covered up to about 1928! There's a lot more needed. We could use a bit about the pre 1925 history too. Unfortunately I don't know anything about it - I've only been a ham since 2000. The history page on the SARL website is just about useless because quite frankly, it is an incoherent mess! A request to my fellow SA hams: Please get proper Wikipedia ID's and login when editing. Roger (talk) 16:06, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Hi Roger, Thanks for the re-write. I added a few things that came to mind but must say it is re-written very professionally. Thank you for your time... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zs6lw (talkcontribs) 19:31, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge proposal edit

Propose to merge Radio ZS as a section into South African Radio League.

Motivation: The magazine "Radio ZS" is the official journal of the "South African Radio League". Both articles are very short. "Radio ZS" is a very short stub with marginal notability - as such it is vulnerable to deletion. Merging it as a section into the "South African Radio League" article would be an improvement for both articles. Roger (talk) 16:23, 15 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agree The publication only exists in relation to the organisation. A redirect should be kept though. What is the common way for smaller Amateur organisations journals to be handled on Wikipedia. Idyllic press (talk) 20:11, 10 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
