CPU SPEED and General Specs edit

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2258979,00.asp << ARM11 GPS , etc etc etc 81.103.136.247 (talk) 01:48, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

520-MHz ARM11 processor... that's pretty damn good for a cell phone. It's only a matter of time before we have cell phones running AMD64 CPUs and Pentium Centrino. — EliasAlucard (Discussion · contribs) 12:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Title edit

Should the article reflect the phone name in capital letters (XPERIA) or in lower case (Xperia)? — EliasAlucard (Discussion · contribs) 09:38, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Manufacturer edit

Why is such prominence given to HTC as claimed manufacturer? (And anyway, newspaper reports mean squat: where is the Sony Ericsson press release saying so?) Head over to the iPhone page for example and it says "Apple" as manufacturer. Clever given that Apple don't own a single factory or manufacturing facility. -- 86.17.211.191 (talk) 04:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's a good point. I'll try to dig up the press release. — EliasAlucard (Discussion · contribs) 10:46, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the HTC reference again. Why is this relevant? Do other electronics pages have the OEM listed prominently? 62.25.106.209 (talk) 13:21, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

If HTC really was the ODM for this product, it should be more prominent, as it would have played a significant part in designing this product. However, there seems to be confusion over whether it was the ODM or CM (contract manufacturer). Apple's iPhone is produced by a CM, as it's obviously designed by Apple. While I'm here, I'd also like to point out that a lot of the article describes features of Windows Mobile (handwriting recognition, push email, video calling, Windows Media Player). The features unique to the XPERIA X1 should be focused on - if someone wants to know about Windows Mobile, they can read the article on that. Dark-Fire (talk) 22:29, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Build Quality Issues edit

Several users experienced their Xperia cracking under normal usage, even careful usage in some cases. [1][2][3][4] http://www.sonyinsider.com/2008/12/28/users-reporting-cracks-appearing-on-xperia-x1-hardware/

Common features edit

Can we exclude or limit the write-ups of common features like push email/character recognition? They seem to just clutter the article, imho. TMSTKSBK (talk) 04:51, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

microSD support edit

Somewhere we need to mention microSD support. Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_x1-2246.php TMSTKSBK (talk) 04:53, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It would also be good if it could be mentioned why Sony decided to drop Memory Stick Micro support in favour of MicroSD. — EliasAlucard / Discussion 21:50, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

High amount of Bias edit

This page looks quite a bit like an ad, does it not? This should be fixed. Guticb (talk) 19:36, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Are you referring to the bottom portion of the page? Yar, does sound like it was copy/pasted from SE's site...I'll see what I can do TMSTKSBK (talk) 04:17, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
    • I edited the page to remove some of the non-NPOV stuff. I checked some of the sources and removed unsupported material (such as the claim that the phone will vary by region, which may be true, but wasn't supported by the links provided). If someone has sources for the notes I removed, please reinstate them!
    • Color depth: I found a MS blog post from the Windows Mobile team that specifically states that Windows CE does support 24 and 32 bit color depth, although this may not be true for WM6.0.

Release date edit

http://blog.se-nse.net/2008/03/03/x1-is-an-h2-product-weve-got-the-official-statement/ Unofficial Sony blog states the company plans to release the Xperia X1 in the second half of 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.8.64.2 (talk) 13:37, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

GPS edit

All the evidence appears to point to the xperia being an A-GPS only device (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/specifications/x1?cc=us&lc=en). The footnoted whitepaper mentions GPS in the text but only A-GPS in the features section. Unless there is better support for this statement, I would think the page should read A-GPS only. From my understanding, an A-GPS only solution would prevent someone from using GPS software without network connectivity so its important to be clear. For example, in the HTC Diamond spec's, it says clearly "GPS and A-GPS support". edit: aGPS = assisted GPS, which means a GPS chip is enbedded although cell-tower info can help it out to get a faster first position fix —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.124.52.234 (talk) 10:21, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know a single device that uses aGPS as in "if there is no network connection you will not get a satellite fix". As far as I know assisted GPS is always just an additional feature, never replacing standard GPS mechanisms (would be quite stupid too). It simply uses additional methods to get a faster fix on your position (whether you're using information about the cell you're currently in or getting positional information on the GPS satellites over the internet or by any other means) - if it is not available, a satellite fix will simply take longer. It might be impossible to get a satellite fix without the assisting function due to signal reception problems, but it won't be impossible per se. PhilippGs (talk) 08:58, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Weight edit

It says 145g in one place and 158g in another. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.59.23.166 (talk) 09:48, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

2nd line edit

"Due to the restrictions of Windows mobile, the phone will be the first business phone by Sony Ericsson which is not able to utilize the PCS network feature Alternate line service, which was once introduced through a collaboration of Orange(UK) and Ericsson." There are large amounts of windows mobile based phones that use the second line on orange, the SPV series of phones (HTC rebranded) for instance. 213.40.196.156 (talk) 12:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Release Countries edit

"In Europe it will be sold only in Fnac stores (Belgium and France)." - This is wrong, since the X1 will also be available from T-Mobile Austria. Does someone have more accurate and up-to-date information? PhilippGs (talk) 08:47, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

In Japan it will be released in April 2010 with the Carrier NTT DoCoMo. It will include support for Mixi, the dominant social network in Japan Press Release: http://www.nttdocomo.com/pr/2010/001467.html --Hydenobuyuki (talk) 14:10, 21 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

UPnP support edit

No info on UPnP support is provided. Sony Ericsson claimed it would be DLNA compliant, but online sources report it can not stream UPnP (like Nokia's N97 for instance). Can anyone confirm that? -- 24.174.4.112 (talk) 12:42, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

XPERIA X2 edit

I think it should be mentioned that the X2 has been leaked as many websites have actual pictures of the device with some suspected specs. Should be mentioned here since the information is out there. Photo edit

I put up a photo I took some time ago, after the previous image was removed by imageremovalbot. It isn't a very good one, but it will do for the meantime. Feel free to replace it with better photos. — owl order (talk) 17:06, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
