Article reinstation edit

In line with the existance of articles for discontinued cameras like Canon PowerShot Pro1, Fujifilm Finepix S9500, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 and many many other ones, there doesn't seem to be a good case for removing the article on this notable camera which was the first digicam (and only one of two to date) to boast a large APS-C sensor (more than 4 times larger than the 2/3" sensor of other advanced digicams). The way the camera was proposed for deletion then deleting it as quickly as was done and the reasons given for deletion all sound very strange to me. Is Wikipedia a catalog for Canon, Fujifilm or Panasonic products for having articles for the mentioned discontinued models?!!!! Mike876 (talk) 15:12, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Most of this article was cut-and-paste from http://cnet.nytimes.com/Sony_Cyber_Shot_DSC_R1/4505-6501_7-31516360-2.html.

You might want to read Wikipedia:Other stuff exists, as the existence of other unnecessary or poor-quality articles is not a valid reason for retaining this particular article. The reason that all of the individual Sony digicam articles were merged into the Cyber-shot article is because the individual articles simply appeared to be lists of specifications from Sony catalogues. If this or other Cybershot cameras are especially deserving of articles in their own right, then information showing this should be added to the articles. Note that this article currently does not include any reference citations for verification, so risks being nominated for deletion at a future date. --DAJF (talk) 22:56, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Among Sony Cybershot cameras this is the only camera with a large APS-C sensor (21.5x14.4mm), no other Cybershot has ever had anything larger than 2/3" sensor(8.8x6.6mm, ie less than quarter the area of the R1's sensor). These sensor sizes are facts that can be easily checked in the specification sheets. I suppose that's an undisputed fact that make the R1 stands out among Cybershots. It also stands out among digicams of all brands in being the FIRST EVER digicam to have a sensor larger than 2/3" sensor (by a big difference)and to date the only one other digicam Sigma DP1 that has a sensor large than 2/3".

If there are any other statements that make unreferenced claims about the R1, then in a worst-case-scenario the solution is to delete these statements not the entire article of such a notable product. If every article with some controversial statements is deleted, a huge percentage of Wikipedia would disappear. Best regards, Mike Mike876 (talk) 22:46, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lens and Angle of View edit

I have edited the description, which states that the lens is a 24-120mm. This is erroneous; it is a 14.3-71mm Zeiss lens that provides an equivalent angle of view of 24-120mm on full frame. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rwintle (talkcontribs) 16:19, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
