Removal of Joe Jackson edit
On 14 June 2020, Moline1 created a new section called "Notable Artists" populated by a single individual: Joe Jackson (musician). I removed that section on 1 Oct 2020. The dispute is not over whether Jackson has recorded for the Sony Classical label. He has. Twice.
- Heaven & Hell (1997)
- Symphony No. 1 (1999)
Rather, the issue is twofold.
- Can both these works accurately be described as classical? Symphony No. 1, performed by a band of jazz and rock musicians, received a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album in 2001.
- Does showing Jackson as the only Notable Artist in a standalone section violate WP:UNDUE? The lead informs us that Sony Classical's historical roster includes Isaac Stern, Pablo Casals, Glenn Gould, Eugene Ormandy, and Leonard Bernstein. In my opinion, Jackson does not belong among such esteemed figures. His presence on their label is a fluke. NedFausa (talk) 20:44, 1 October 2020 (UTC)
