May I ask how do we know its coming to 360 and wii, could I have a source —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.203.207.64 (talk) 09:41, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

We don't know, but there is some new information available today.

TSS Had a quote saying that Official Nintendo Magazine would have some screens. That would definately make it on the Wii at least. Regardless, until there's an official announcement, I've changed the console to TBA, as a vandal put Dreamcast —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.161.28.41 (talk) 04:50, 24 March 2008 (UTC) Scratch that, found the citation, and edited in the consoles. 72.161.28.41 (talk) 05:03, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I've edited back out again as the source is the same as all the others, still dubious (no major gaming sites are covering it as official word from Sega). In addition, it makes it look like the PlayStation 3 is being skipped out on, providing innumerable fan sites with console war ammunition (I found at least one stating matter-of-factly that it was only coming to the 360 and Wii, quoting Wikipedia as fact). SynergyBlades (talk) 18:35, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

G4tv.com says that this game will come out for ps3 and 360, it dosent say if its coming out for the wii —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.13.56.160 (talk) 21:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

SEGA left a .doc in their public press FTP with logins for the whole press FTP, after which someone from Sonic Cult found it and proceeded to plunder the whole place. They found high-resolution assets including the cover art for the official nintendo magazine. This pretty much confirms a Wii release (why else would ONM have SU on its cover?). http://www.x-cult.org/newsx/comments.php?id=165 66.38.19.158 (talk) 18:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

It's for all 3. Wii, 360, PS3SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 21:55, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Official source? Until there is one, it's TBA. SynergyBlades (talk) 21:58, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

got a site saying its for 360 and ps3 http://www.g4tv.com/games/photo_gallery/845/Screenshots__Sonic_Unleashed_PS3Xbox_360/index_pg2/15698.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tripleg28 (talkcontribs) 22:01, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Sonic Unleashed will at least be released on the Wii or/and Xbox 360. As http://www.campsonic.com/what-platforms-is-it-for points out, there is clearly an "A" button in the gameplay video, which is only found on the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. However, most of the screenshots are in 720p, which would lead one to believe that this game will at least be on the 360. That said, it's WAY to early to rule this game out for the PS3. Artificialflavors (talk) 04:00, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Still speculation by a fansite; could we leave the platforms until there's something official? SynergyBlades (talk) 15:16, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
SSB Fan, thanks for totally ignoring the comment in the infobox asking not to add platforms. That fan site you edited back in is not reliable, and does not list the PS3 as a platform (where other sites are doing so), which is why I recommended waiting for official confirmation. SynergyBlades (talk) 16:10, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

GameStop.com has listings for versions for the Wii, PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360. I have added the platform names. There is also a November 4, 2008 release date given, but since game dates change constantly I didn't add the date. I think it's pretty much safe to say that SEGA is trying to make a good Sonic game by keeping it kind of simple, I'm excited. --MidnightScott (talk) 00:43, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I hate to keep banging the drum, but Gamestop can be considered an educated guess at best, which is why these sorts of listings from Amazon et al are not used for information regarding platforms, and certainly not for release dates. SynergyBlades (talk) 01:12, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't the game's official website be the only source for all consoles on which it'll be released on? Most if not all offcial game sitesadvertise the consoles the game will be found on upon release.Oruko (talk) 12:50, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Absolutely, which is why the reference for both mentions of the platform in the article currently link to Sega's press release. SynergyBlades (talk) 13:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

The new dragoon "or as we herd" has not been claimed to have a name yet. But we have herd eggman made this "dragoon" but do we know how yet? ?Im thinking sense eggman had the 7 chaos emeralds before sonic did im thinking that eggman had made this "Dragoon" with the 7 chaos emeralds! But we also didn't hear if there is going to be the MASTER EMERALD in the game they say all the chaos emeralds will be in the game but the world split into 7 pieces not 8 so maybe they forgot the master emerald but thats kinda sad because 1 of the reasons they made knuckles is to protect the master emerald but if knuckles isn't in the game maybe the master emerald won't i wanna know if the master emerald will be in the game and if eggman made the dragoon with chaos control i don't think eggman just found the dragoon and told it to do what he says or maybe the dragoon isn't working with him i also wanna know what the dragoons name is. but i really think that there will be alot of people we know like sonic heros had stuff games we dont have now did so i just wanted to put that in your head

Unconfirmed Characters

Nowhere has confirmed Knuckles and Tails. SEGAON at one point did, but took it down claiming it was false. So I am removing that part from the article.70.189.104.223 (talk) 01:50, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

PS2 Release?

Rumors have surfaced at the Sonic Stadium that there may be a PS2 release... is the source they are providing reliable? Indigo Rush 01:49, 31 March 2008

Very little about the sources on this game are reliable right now; we really don't know jack. However, if this indeed going to be a Wii release, a PS2 release of the same build wouldn't be shocking. --Bishop2 (talk) 19:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

No offence but the PS2 will probably be discontinued before it is released —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.90.196.72 (talk) 19:11, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Werewolf?

OK, so it says this at various points in the article, with sources footnoted, but yet under the story heading, it clearly says that Sega said that this isn't true. So then why does it continue to say so elsewhere in the article? If it's not true, then shouldn't it be removed from the rest of the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Great Morgil (talkcontribs) 20:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

For that matter, if Sega claimed this was untrue, where's the citation for that statement? There's no link to any evidence of that. --Bishop2 (talk) 20:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I think they were refering to that Muzuk name or whatever. The werewolf details are debatable. Picture looks real to me. AlexFili (talk) 12:23, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I typed it. The plot about Mubuz, and Immarius, Sega said it's a hoax!SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 22:06, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Here's something else to consider - how do we know that's a "werewolf Sonic"? It would be a brand new character who isn't even related to Sonic, for all we know. It could be "Ravage the Hedgehog" or something ridiculous like that. --Bishop2 (talk) 18:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

(Slaps head) We have proof for Were-Sonic.SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 00:29, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Sega probably said that because they didn't want too many people knowing. 58.174.98.29 (talk) 08:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia defines werewolves as, Werewolves, also known as lycanthropes, are mythologic humans with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or wolflike creature, either purposely, by eating Henbane, or by being bitten by a werewolf or after being placed under a curse. The problems with calling Sonic's new form a werewolf are A)Sonics is not a human, and therefore falls outside of the definition B) We don't know for a fact that his new form is a wolf at all. C)We don't have enough information to label his new form as anything. I propose that instead of immediately labeling his form as a werewolf we call it his, New form or something of the sorts like that.([[User talk:Kurowoofwoof111|talk]]) (talk) 01:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Umm no the game calls him a were wolf not "new form".

Developer's

Well, we all know that this game is being developed worldwide, but should we be more specific with the develope info? It just says " Sega ". We also all know that Sonic Team is working on it. So maybe we should put Sonic Team and Sega as the developers for now. And as more info is released on the developer confirmation, we update it......what do you guys think?--S200048 (talk) 14:25, 2 April 2008 (UTC)s200048

Don't we need proof first? I think we should just put N/A. -LyokoTitan101 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.99.97.140 (talk) 12:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Speculation

Maybe WereSonic could be at the end like Darkspine Sonic in Sonic and Seven Rings —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.21.3.46 (talk) 18:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

The talk page isn't a discussion forum - please seek out a fan forum or some such for any discussions. Thanks. SynergyBlades (talk) 21:39, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Release Date

SEGA has already changed the date of the release to Holidays 2008 (Guessing December 2008). [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.21.3.46 (talk) 21:16, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a note on naming... Sonic is not a werewolf

Okay, there are a few points in this article where it says that Sonic "turns into a werewolf" at night. Just want to point out what werewolf means, "were" means half human, so the article is saying he turns into a human that turns into a wolf at night, at night. Also it wouldn't make sense to say weresonic or werewolf version of Sonic etc, because all of those mean half human. Actually, I think it's probably acceptable to call Sonic a werewolf because it's such a common term, but can we say that he "turns into a wolf at night" instead? It just makes more sense.--Aceizace (talk) 01:42, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

But he's not really turning into a wolf, else he'd look a lot smaller and walk around on all fours. He's morphing into the form that is widely recognised and labelled as "werewolf" - the image that most people conjure up when talking about a werewolf, from horror movies and such. I understand your meaning about the technical term of the word but it's more symbolic, descriptive to leave it as is for the time being - until Sega gives it its official name, of course. SynergyBlades (talk) 02:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

How about we put in, "He turns into a werewolf like creature at night." That way we're not saying he's a werewolf just something similar.Fairfieldfencer (talk) 09:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

You don't have to be human to turn into a werewolf, if you ever saw Cursed (film) the family dog became a werewolf.--Lbrun12415 20:48, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Besides, it's just a video game. It's like the whole Charmy issue all over again!...SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 22:40, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

But still in the movie Cursed (film) their family dog became a werewolf meaning that you don't have to be a human to become a were wolf.

They are talking about the game, a fictional piece of work can't be called proof. I understand that this helps prove the point most people don't know or even care a human is technically the only being able to turn into a werewolf, but the way your presenting it can't really help.--SxeFluff (talk) 03:56, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

found some screen shots that we could use maybe.

"Reinventing the Franchise"

I have removed any and all references to this statement. While there are many who were disappointed with more recent offerings, this is still an encyclopedia, and still needs to be NPOV. I ask that this not be added again. Besides which, even sourced, "reinvent" in this context is just a "buzzword" meant to "advertise" the game in some way (whether officially or not) which is not appropriate for a Wikipedia article. So once again, I ask that it not be added again (even if a source were to be provided). Brittany Ka (talk) 16:12, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

"Any and all" (i.e, the one time in the article it was stated) - it was originally sourced, before someone decided to remove the reference, but fair enough. I disagree about its context - it was merely intended to show that Sega themselves acknowledge the series' downturn of late. But no need to get worked up over (or discuss) it, you only needed to remove it. :) SynergyBlades (talk) 18:46, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
That said, if a major gaming news site had an interview with one of the producers (for instance) that explicitly stated it was a reinvention of sorts, in order to bring the franchise back to prominence after recent outings, I'd have no hesitation in putting it back in (sourced, of course). That would not be non-neutral POV if it comes from the horse's mouth, as it would explicitly state one of the goals behind the production. SynergyBlades (talk) 18:52, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Either way, "reinvention" is still a buzzword (even if it does come "from the horses mouth"), and as such still isn't encyclopedic. Brittany Ka (talk) 00:52, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

New lead image

Is there a possibility for a better picture for the infobox? There one in there now is kind of...lacking. -Sukecchi (talk) 00:50, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

It's the only official title-esque image we have right now; that one comes from the official Sega site. Until there's a better one released, that's all we have to go on. Gameplay images aren't really appropriate for the infobox. SynergyBlades (talk) 01:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Isn't there a larger image of Sonic and his Werewolf form? I think that would be more appropriate... -Sukecchi (talk) 02:13, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

The first one isn't representative of the game as a whole - just a cut-scene screenshot. The second is better but doesn't come across as a title image (no text on it). It won't be too long before we get something better, so just leave it be for the time being. SynergyBlades (talk) 14:09, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Knuckles Confirmed!

there is a website called Campsonic that is providing new info and right now they found out that knuckles is playable[2][3] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.75.58.174 (talk) 22:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually, Tails and Amy were confirmed to appear in the Official Nintendo Magazine Uk. However it only said that they would appear and didn't say that they would be playable. Knuckles was confirmed with Tails in The Playstation Official Magazine. However, its too early to assume much and for now its probably best to leave Sonic and Eggman as the only 100% confirmed characters. Once a more detailed and reliable source is released, then they should be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.77.78.143 (talk) 19:25, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the 2 mags. were just creating speculation...SLJCOAAATR_SOUL_Strike (talk) 20:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Official Magazines don't normally tend to purposely create speculation. Afterall, its their job to provide real news, not rumours and myths like lesser, unofficial sources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.77.78.143 (talk) 22:45, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

The Wii version is a different game. Tails and Amy might be in that version but not the others. Digifiend (talk) 11:27, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Its possible, but Tails and Amy are major characters, so probably will appear in all versions. The same goes for Knuckles. But the contex in which they appear may be completely different. However, since we know very little at this time, we can only speculate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.77.78.143 (talk) 11:04, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Protection?

Do you think it would be a good Idea to protect this article? Chaoshi (talk) 18:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

He/she, means semi-protection like I proposed for the Sonic Chronicles article as it is IPs who are causing all the speculation of characters. And I whole heartedly agree.Fairfieldfencer FFF 18:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I had asked for (and got) it semi-protected for a couple of days, when info first started coming out (and lots of vandalism/unsourced info followed). It seems to have cooled down a bit now, but if it gets bad once more, feel free to post for semi-protection on the protection requests page. SynergyBlades (talk) 18:45, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
