Appearance edit

What is the point of the "appearance" section?? -- AnonMoos (talk) 12:53, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I just came here to ask "what is the point of the Appearance section," but it looks like someone beat me to it. I'm tempted to delete it on grounds of irrelevant stupidity. What say y'all? Djkuula (talk) 15:20, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I say "delete, please". It made a bad impression on me the day it was added, and now again, the second time I see it. SamEV (talk) 05:59, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

So what has Chang-Diaz done in office? Anything since January 2009? edit

The current article seems to stop with any encyclopedic information about Chang-Diaz with the election and the January 2009 inauguration. Is this an accurate reflection of reality? I.e., the reader might assume that she has done nothing notable since, while in office. This might be true for many or most politicians—and it might even be a good thing—but it does seem that, if anything of note has been done, it ought to be added to the article. Either you're a part of the solution or you're part of the problem. See a problem, fix it or zip it. MarkinBoston (talk) 21:32, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

birth mother? edit

her biological mother seems to be one "canoce buker", franklin chang-diaz's first wife. and yet neither she nor he seem to acknowledge this fact. neither wiki even MENTIONS her -- did frank give birth himself?!

(this article, strangely, doesn't mention the SECOND wife either...)

what's the deal here? usually pretty rare for a child to deny birth-mother existence. has anyone ever asked her about this? 66.30.47.138 (talk) 02:53, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Try to find anything on the Internet about Canoce Buker, whom Franklin met while in Germany, and with whom he had his first two (2) daughters: (a) Jean Elizabeth Chang-Diaz and (b) Sonia Chang-Diaz. Sonia was born in 1978, and Franklin married Peggy (Margaret?) in 1984. Sonia would have (1) spent ~6 years with Canoce and (2) grown up with Peggy. Try to find anything about Dr. Peggy Doncaster or Dr. Peggy Stafford which does not mention Franklin. Where is Peggy today? Likely with Franklin? Is the name "Canoce Buker" Turkish (but in Germany - not uncommon)? MaynardClark (talk) 23:18, 8 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Based on personal knowledge of the family: Her mother is Candace Buker Chang, who has kept the name Chang. She worked at Bay Cove and previously at DCF. She lives with Sonia and family in Jamaica Plain. Triangular (talk) 20:13, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

LIVES WITH SONIA?! then why does sonia not even claim her as a mother?! every bio just says "daughter of franklin...".
btw, it's "canoce" not "candace", but are u saying that she does indeed go by that as well? any source we could cite? 2601:19C:5280:5BA7:A58D:A9B9:8013:6F85 (talk) 11:29, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Do a public records search. Her name is correct as I typed it. Triangular (talk) 20:04, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don't know why the bios say that. She doesn't deny her mother's existence to my knowledge, but she is private with details about herself and her life in general, which there's nothing wrong with. Here are some mentions of her mother:

Addition of committee assignments edit

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

After Senate Redistricting committee, add vice-chair of the Judiciary committee, After Ways and Means committee.[25][26][27]., add as well as chair of the Cannabis Policy committee after its formation in the wake of adult-use legalization in 2017. Committee assignments by year are available here https://malegislature.gov/Legislators/Profile/SCD0/192/Committees

  • Why it should be changed:

As vice-chair and chair of the committees, she had a leadership role. EricksJP (talk) 14:52, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
