Talk:Songs of Travel and Other Verses

This stub topic about Stevenson's poetry is directly related to the following topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songs_of_Travel. Composer Williams sets Stevenson's prose to music. This other topic, like Williams' music, elucidates the content of Stevenson's Songs of Travel and Other Verses. However, we don't have a topic on the literary work in the first place. How to handle this situation? I submit this question to veteran Wikipedians. My minimal hope is that we provide a link, embedded in an appropriate sentence about the prose. I drafted such a sentence, but would like help, as I lack familiarity with Stevenson's overall work. (added 06:05, 28 January 2008 by editor Grygiu)

I'll check around & see what we have for other poem cycles, by Stevenson or others. The Vaughan Williams composition uses only a portion of the whole collection, so perhaps a listing of the complete work, with dates, would be useful. For example, I'm trying to figure out if the last line of "Bright is the Ring of Words", "And the maid remembers", refers to Kaʻiulani. Stevenson used to sit under the Banyan tree on Kaʻiulani's estate and tell her stories - there is in fact a small plaque on the spot in Honolulu noting this. If that were the correct interpretation, it changes how I perform the song.
