Wouldn't this be better off as a "Solomon family" article? Samuel Moss has no claim to notability except that his descendants did stuff, and the whole article is a family tree. The Drover's Wife (talk) 21:58, 27 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, but hesitated over title. There were several other, though not so prominent, Solomon families in SA, and this lot is not confined to SA though probably most significant here. The Dunn family, which I'm looking at now, has the same problems. The pater familias came out here at an advanced age and promptly died, but is the common factor with a lit of people called Dunn. BTW check out talk Talk:Vaiben Solomon. Should be interesting but $59.95 plus p&p is outside my budget. Doug butler (talk) 00:05, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't have a problem at putting it at "Solomon family" as long as there is not another Solomon family with similar dynastic notability. I don't think the Dunn family would be notable by contrast - only three members notable enough to be on Wikipedia (which can easily link to each other directly); the rest of it is family tree that ideally wouldn't be on Wikipedia. If you're in a capital city, I'm sure your local state library will get a copy of the Solomon family book soon. The Drover's Wife (talk) 02:57, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I also think it'd be worth going through and checking if it's worth adding redlinks on some of these - for one, Ess Solomon (the city councillor) is definitely notable in my book and should have an article. The Drover's Wife (talk) 03:03, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
The Dunn family thing started with me wondering whether George Alexander Dunn and Henry Peter Kestel Dunn were related to John Dunn (miller), so I did have to delve a bit before I was content. But the family is very much part of the history of the area from Mount Barker to Strathalbyn. Doug butler (talk) 03:46, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
I came to the talk page to suggest what's already been discussed here. Therefore, I've moved the page. There's no harm in finding an even more appropriate title. I suggest that the lead needs to be rewritten, as this isn't about Samuel Moss Solomon, but about the family as a whole. Schwede66 05:08, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Why is the family tree here?

This is just a prolix and uninteresting family tree. Why is it here? Get rid of it. 180.190.175.234 (talk) 23:09, 26 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
