Sources

Looks like we will need to find some form of news report, I am guessing that YouTube videos are considered to be a biased source?92.24.43.252 (talk) 16:39, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not necessarily biased per se, but usually a primary source, and generally not preferred, especially for contentious content about living persons. GMGtalk 17:12, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Is there another source we could use? 92.24.43.252 (talk) 19:27, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia has exceptionally high standards for sources when it comes to content about living people. This is partially because we want to ensure we don't do any harm with the content we write, and also because it's one of a few areas that can actually get Wikipedia sued. Generally, you're looking for published independent sources, usually things like books, newspapers, and magazines (along with their websites), and not things like videos or user generated content like blogs or online comment threads. If this kind of content about recent events does not yet exist, then it's usually a good indication that this may be an event that is especially important at the moment to dedicated fans, but isn't necessarily central to providing an enduring encyclopedic overview of the subject. Do his own videos not count as sources? I assume the questions here regard whether or not his recent cheating scandal can be verified. He has posted videos at least twice on the matter (edit: e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0EaTLRYM1o) and has admitted to the cheating. There are also various recordings of him describing the matter during livestreams with fans. Given the self-verification, it seems strange that there's no mention of such a significant event on his biography. At this point, he is probably more famous on the whole for the affair than for his music. 24.16.14.230 (talk) 01:16, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Deleting This Wikipedia Page For Social Repose

edit

This person doesn't belong on here he hasn't done anything spectacular or anything special to belong on here and feel like it should be deleted PeterPan1838 (talk) 09:33, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I believe the criterion is "noteworthy", not "spectacular". I don't like the guy, but neither of us would be here if he hadn't achieved "noteworthy" status. Besides, he's certainly made a spectacle of himself of late, so he really passes either test. 24.16.14.230 (talk) 01:23, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Jaclyn Glenn Social Repose

edit

Jaclyn Glenn has stated on Twitter that she does not want to be included with anything that has to do with her ex Richard Giese AKA Social Repose that is why I keep editing her name out of his Wikipedia page so hope the people that keep including her in something she doesn't want to be included in will be decent and stop mentioning her on his Wikipedia page PeterPan1838 (talk) 03:26, 25 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's something that still defines his career and is noteworthy at minimum. She's been featured in many of his videos and was his wife at one point. Although it technically wasn't a legal marriage, it still happened. The breakup between them has changed his career ever since. I won't put that information in because I don't know all the details, but I think not allowing Jaclyn Glenn to even be mentioned on Richard Geise's Wikipedia page is unnecessary censorship.
