Fair use rationale for Image:Pt ltl psd.jpg edit

Image:Pt ltl psd.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:16, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ideology edit

I disagre with the ideological portrait put in the page. I think Social Liberalism, Social Conservatism, Democratism or Populism fit better than Conservatism and Christian Democracy. User:Lususromulus

I Agree that the party does adhere to Social Liberalism, Social Conservatism, and populism and i am pleased these ideologies have been added into the infobox but i do not think Christian democracy and Conservatism should be removed as the party does adhere to these traits of thought aswell. Image copyright problem with Image:Sa Carneiro.jpg edit

The image Image:Sa Carneiro.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --01:07, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Socialist International? edit

I vaguely remember reading a web-site some 7 years ago, where the party was mentioned as observer or associate member of that organization (or Party of European Socialists), too. Do I remember correctly or am I mistaken here? --Miacek and his crime-fighting dog (woof!) 09:07, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well, no, it tried to join that european parliamentary group and the International with the help of Helmut Schimtt, but Brandt (and to a lesser level Schimtt) prefered the Socialist Party, and when Sá Carneiro died eventualy the desire lost flame (though Balsemão still had an inclination towards populist social democracy and centrism), and with Keynesian moderate neo-liberal leader Cavaco Silva the Liberal International and the European liberal groups were prefered, and any desire of joining the SI was lost. I don't know if this party ever had a status as observer or auxiliary in the SI, but since 1985 or something till now it certainly hasn't. Lususromulus (talk) 21:29, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Christian democracy edit

Of course this party follows an christian democracy ideology, it is similar to the CDU from germany ( christian democratic union), the name of the party says it all and it is not part of Socialist International that is PS, this is a conservative party SOCIALISMEVER (talk) 01:03, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Expert Needed edit

This article needs a massive cleanup and a expert. Someone gave the article a very confusing tone. What I can say with absolute sure is that the PSD is a conservative party, with some liberal and christian-democratic influences. It is not a Christian Democratic Party because officially it does not follow this ideology as much redundant it may seem.85.242.239.164 (talk) 00:04, 30 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Repeated vandalism edit

This page is constantly being vandalized with unconstructive edits, like changing the abbreviation or adding "social-democracy" to it. And this anonymous user also makes this same type of unconstructive edits in the pages Assembly of the Republic (Portugal) and CDS – People's Party. I think these articles need to be semi-protected against unregistered users. --B.Lameira (talk) 19:54, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Political position edit

Since there seem to be sources for a large number of positions on the political spectrum, would it not be better to label the party as a big tent party of the centre-right? HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 18:06, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, think so too HunterZ-PT (talk) 21:40, 9 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Historical ideology edit

We should add a historical ideology part to underline the fact the party was born as a centre/centre-left social democratic party. HunterZ-PT (talk) 21:42, 9 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Position and ideology edit

I noticed social liberalism and centrism were recently added to the ideology section of the infobox, and Centre was added to the position. Does anyone know why this is? And should it be reverted? GlowstoneUnknown (talk) 05:23, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
