this i cool edit

This page is ridiculously unclear. Someone clean it up please. --87.82.14.205 19:32, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

This is a Disambiguation page. Its intent is to point readers to a relevent article, in this case Olfaction or Odor. Having now understood that, is there still something you want me to improve in the page?--Commander Keane 19:45, 28 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Yes. the meaning of the distinction that was made. I cleaned it up. DGG 04:49, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

SmellSmell (disambiguation)Odor should be at Smell; smell is a neutral word; odor is generally a negative smell. Georgia guy (talk) 20:49, 13 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Support but for a totally different reason. The primary meaning of "smell" is as in the five senses, so I think Smell should redirect to Olfaction. I might even propose a follow-up move of Olfaction to Smell. The real neutral counterpart to odor is scent. -- Netoholic @ 21:12, 13 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. I'm not at all convinced that either meaning of "smell" should be regarded as primary, so I think it's best to leave the dab page where it is. I also don't believe that "smell" is necessarily neutral or that "odor" is generally negative. There's no problem here that needs fixing. PC78 (talk) 10:15, 14 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak oppose - if it's not broke, don't fix it. "Smell" can either equally refer to "Odor"/"scent" (a smell), or "Olfaction" (sense of smell). Paintspot Infez (talk) 16:49, 14 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per PC78 2601:541:4500:1760:A89A:65D6:E57B:36CE (talk) 19:23, 17 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Olfaction probably is the broadest "Smell" topic but maybe like Heathrow/Heathrow (hamlet) the usage of Odor is far more common that redirecting to the broadest meaning is unhelpful. Crouch, Swale (talk) 07:47, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
