Talk:Skrillex discography

Genre edit

The page describes the artist as "complextro", which is linked to Electro house#Complextro but this page just redirects to House music and the word complextro isn't mentioned once there.

The Dubstep article explicitly mentions Skrillex as a forerunner of brostep, so I put that in place of complextro for the time being. Attys (talk) 05:42, 18 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Remixes edit

Before ever adding a remix to the list of remixes please do a little bit of research. Inaccuracies are overly common in this area.

I can see how the confusion can start with many songs being released on his mixes and people assuming they are connected to him, but it's not always the case. Please make sure all remixes are not just mashups, live mixes that contain other songs than his, or youtube fakes. Gurochu (talk) 20:44, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Missing Songs edit

I've read through the list here a couple times and it appears to missing songs. I've a small list: Drop Dead Tune (It lists the club mix), Kill Everybody [DNB Drive], My Name Is Skrillex (It lists My Name Is Skrillex (Skrillex Remix)), Lovers (It was on here before, but someone removed it. They most likely removed it since people have said it is just Ellie Goulding Figure 8, but it is not the same song), With You Friends, With You Friends [Long Drive], Something More (He played it live), Fucking Die 1 (It's on his official channel), Fucking Die 2 [EE Cooper Mix] (It's on his official channel), Do Da Oliphant (It's on his official channel), All I Ask Of You [Ft Penny] (It's on his official channel), Summit [Ft Ellie Goulding], The Devil's Den [Wolfgang Gartner], Ruffneck [Flex], & Do We Really (This was removed, I'm not sure why).

Then there's songs he did as Twipz, which hasn't made it onto the list either. He made Look Over At That, Decoy, Bees, & Come From The Heart under the name Twipz. There's also a lot of the Sonny Moore Songs Like Mora (Soft), Equinox (Instrumental), Concentrical (Soft), Signal (Soft), Copaface (Soft), & Glow Worm (Acoustic).

Are these songs just not listed on the main page because they're on his EP pages? That's confusing though because some of the EP songs are already on the main page.--Dionvc (talk) 16:19, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Several of the songs you mentioned are unlisted as they appear on EPs which are listed. Certain significant EP tracks such as Bangarang are listed as singles, but there's no need to list every EP track separately. Kill Everybody (DnB Drive) is listed, and the club mix of Drop Dead Tune is surely appropriate since it's the longer version? By Something More, I assume you're referring to the lyrics "you've gotta believe in something more" in the song Voltage (which is listed). Feel free to add Lovers, Do We Really and the Twipz discography. Make sure to sign your posts on talk pages in the future or otherwise people can't contact you! My bad, yeah looking back I can see that most of the songs I listed were actually in the EP listing. I never saw that DNB drive was on the page, I don't think it was yesterday. There's also his Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites [DNB Drive] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z96Qt6JWLxk). I would think it would be responsible to list that the songs Drop Dead Tune and Drop Dead (Club Mix) are different, but if it seems unneeded to add it then that's alright. Something More was played live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kUAxz3pGCQ). I will try to add the Twipz Discography and Lovers song, although I have a lot of trouble with editing wikipedia pages. I never used a talk page before, I didn't know about signing. Do you think I should add the soft songs and acoustics? They were included on his Bells EP which he distributed live.--Dionvc (talk) 16:26, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

@DJUnBalanced Something More was the unfinished/unreleased version of Right In

Slats Slats Slats is missing from this list. It's only available on YouTube, so I'm not sure how to go about citing it. --8balloon —Preceding undated comment added 19:53, 5 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sonny and The Blood Monkeys VS. Sonny Sound edit

Some of the Sonny Tracks listed are actually Sonny and The Blood Monkey Tracks while also being Sonny Sound Tracks. I am unsure as to whether or not we should create a new page to outline these differences or perhaps another section? A number of tracks also remained unreleased, and for the most part they are listed on BitVargen's Last.FM, which is Sonny's long time stage manager.

The list on BitVargen's last.FM can be found here: http://www.last.fm/user/bitvargen/library/music/Sonny+and+the+Blood+Monkeys?sortOrder=asc&sortBy=name

A similar list which includes some other songs can be found here: http://skrillexmothership.com/wiki/index.php?title=Sonny_and_the_Blood_Monkeys

I would also like to mention that Sirah rapped for "Cusp", which I am wondering if we should mention that as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dionvc (talkcontribs) 22:51, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Jack U edit

In an interview with runthetrap.com on 09/01/14 Sonny and Diplo announced they'll be releasing music this year under their side project Jack U.[1]

While Skrillex's "Dirty Vibe" is technically a Jack U song, other tracks like the unreleased Skrillex collaboration "Amplifier" from 2011 and newer tracks are set to be possible candidates on their debut release. One track confirmed is the Skrillex collaboration "Drunk Girl" featuring rapper Riff RAFF and vocalist Skylar Grey that was due to feature on Riff Raff's debut album "Neon Icon". However Diplo confirmed in a tweet that it is now a Jack U collaboration.[2]

Other Jack U Tracks edit

Song Notes
"ID" featuring Aluna George Played by Jack U at Mad Decent Block Party 2013, East Village Lot, San Diego, California on 15/09/13.[3]
"ID" [Get It From the Back] Played by Jack U at Ultra Music Festival 2014, Miami Beach, Florida on 30/03/14.[4]
"ID" Played by Diplo at Tomorrowland 2014, Recreatiedomein 'de Schorre', Boom, Belgium on 18/07/14.[5]
"ID" Played by Diplo at Concorde Atlantique, Paris on 24/07/14.[6]
"ID" Played by Jack U at Concorde Atlantique, Paris on 24/07/14.[7]

I think given the evidence that there will inevitably be more tracks coming, there should be a dedicated thread as there was one created for Dog Blood.

Original Research edit

Riddled with OR based on readings of Youtube videos and Instagram posts. Please see WP:OR, WP:VER, and WP:RS. Semitransgenic talk. 17:37, 27 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from further vandalizing this page and leave it to people who know what they're talking about! ;)

We can improve citation, but deleting entire sections of articles just because you're too lazy to add them is vandalism.Skrillm4ge (talk) 21:24, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

we don't build content by referring to "people who know what they're talking about" (unless said people have published in a reliable source). Please familiarise yourself with: WP:OR, WP:VER, and WP:RS. Additionally, a discography is for published work (actual releases), it is not a place to list every single iteration of an artist's output. Semitransgenic talk. 09:08, 29 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Most of the content on that section was properly cited, with references from reliable sources. If you had a problem with one of the sources then finding a better reference for it is problem preferable to removing most of the page. Since most of Skrillex's discography is purely digital you would have to remove most of his remixes, multiple albums, and tracks only uploaded to Soundcloud if you want to base it on only his work published for sale.
Also, I'm sorry for sounding condescending in my other post. It's just that this way thousands of Skrillex fans can go to find stuff that they otherwise wouldn't know about. People have put in a lot of hard work to make it what it is.

Skrillm4ge (talk) 16:05, 29 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

the cites were simply not WP:RS, also the lead has no cites at all. There are sites and forums for fan based research, Wikipedia is not a forum, see WP:FORUM, there is also a manual of style for discographies, developed using a process of Wikipedia consensus building, please see the discographies project portal, also take a look a discogs that have made WP:FA (listed at the portal). We do not list every single instance of output, show a single FA that does this and there will be something to discuss here. If you are concerned about losing information copy and paste it to a user page and develop the content there. Semitransgenic talk. 20:26, 29 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

EPs edit

I think the Narcissistic Cannibal: The Remixes EP should be removed considering Skirllex was a featured artist, not the primary one like the rest of his EPs listed here. SilentDan (talk) 11:43, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Music Videos edit

@Semitransgenic: Added references to the Discogs.com listings of the material and updated the text with the album release. IMHO references to music being used in games should not be put in a discography, so I took those out. One thing I was wondering about is the listing of music videos. Are these of note?
