Needs a Sidebar edit

This article needs a sidebar like other articles for musical bands. If I don't get to it before you do, fix it please. Billy Nair 22:09, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Name Origin edit

While it probably counts as original research, the info on the origin of the name stemming from the Marcus essay came from Chris Randall himself. I had the opportunity to speak to him at the 2/2/02 show in Chicago. He confirmed this fact. No, I do not have verifiable evidence to back it up, but this is from the man behind the band and the name. Please don't contradict the article. If a citation is needed, I will do my best to track it down, but in the meantime, if you have no citation for the Skinny Puppy rumor, please don't add it to the text.

I've managed to find at least one internet source confirming the name orgin at http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=774060, as well as the same info in a document from 1994.

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~andrewm/Docs/bandnames.txt

I will add the second link to the article as a Citation.

Name origin has been removed, as it is overall unimportant to the band's history. Sovex (talk) 22:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced edit

I have tagged this article as unreferenced. Edits made by user Offonvol are unverifiable, and may be completely incorrect. None of this information can be found on any band bios that I have come across. Offonvol, please cite sources, or remove the information.

Band History needs to be revised edit

Band history is innacurate as well as the origin of the name of the band. While I am unable to cite any sources in the media. I personnally carried their (Chris Randall & Bill Machado) equipment in my 78 VW Bus from Wooster St. in NYC to the gigs at the Limelight and at the Pipeline. If the band was indeed founded in Chicago why was Sister Machine Gun playing gigs in NY and NJ before it was signed to WaxTrax. The trip to Chicago was necessary because ir was the Mecca of the "Industrial" scene. I can probably produce photos of the early gigs as proof. I can also provide contact information for Bill Machado if you need to verify. Feel free to contact me at offonvol@yahoo.com

Please cite sources if you are going to make changes to the article. I have provided several links that give evidence against your band name origin. You have yet to provide anything but hearsay. I haven't even seen evidence of anyone named Bill Machado being involved in the band. Please do not use this article as a sounding board. Stick with the facts, and back them up. Do not be contrary for the sake of contrariness. Sovex (talk) 01:15, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am not using the article as a sounding board or being contrary for the sake of contrariness. There is the truth and there is the legend. What you have in your article is the legend. Made up name origin & fictitous early band history ... all created by publicists. The person named in your article as a founding member of the band only joined the band after it had signed with the record company. Where is the band history prior the connection with KMFDM and WaxTrax records? Where did this band "cut" their teeth? While not being able to cite sources, would photos and video footage suffice as proof? Remember, this was the late 80's and early 90's and PC's were not wide available. If the information is important to the history of the band, then you should be able to provide citation. Right now, you're going on hearsay, which is not acceptable for encyclopaedic purposes. Show proof that what is in the article is fictitious. Show proof that every band bio and every interview in existence was nothing but "publicist propaganda". You have nothing but hearsay to back you up, so please stop cluttering the article with your misinformation. Sovex (talk) 03:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Article has been cleaned-up and better formatted. Non-neutral information has been removed or revised. Machado has been confirmed as an early founder of the band.Sovex (talk) 22:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
