Any info on his position, given that he tours Burma wearing a keffiyeh? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.97.113.13 (talk) 12:05, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

A lot of this article is perhaps more along the lines of a vanity piece, especially the lengthy descriptions of television programs. Regarding the award-winning presenter claim - we need a source showing that Reeve won an award, as opposed to any of the programs he presented. And a source showing he's a NYT best-selling author. SlimVirgin (talk) 09:52, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

I've tidied it to make it less gushing. We need a source for this: "Reeve has written or contributed to a series of current-affairs books investigating subjects such as terrorism, biological warfare, international organised crime and nuclear smuggling." SlimVirgin (talk) 10:08, July 27, 2005 (UTC)
The reason the article looked like a vanity piece is that it was mostly written by Reeve's publicist, Amy Chapman, she also provided the photo. Edward 03:23:05, 2005-09-02 (UTC)

Simon Reeve did win a One World Broadcasting Trust award for the "Places" documentary. A trip to the OWBT Website will confirm this.

Also, Reeve's book "The New Jackals" was on the New York Times besteller list for non-fiction the week of October 28, 2001 (and rests on the Amazon.com bestsellers list of 2001.)

Am unable to confirm the investigative current events research claim. Any luck, slim? Costelloranch 19:03, 28 October 2005 (UTC)CostelloranchReply

Also interesting is what has been omitted from Reeve's resume. While he is a highly regarded expert on the subject of terrorism, he has also hosted numerous 'conspiracy theory' and corporate expose-type programs.

I've just tred following several of the citation links. Many are dead links, including links to hosting companies, almost as if temporary domain names had been set up to provide spurious citation sources. This article is, as has been said above, a poorly sourced vanity piece. It has the hallmarks if a piece of work by a publicist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.102.171 (talk) 06:30, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

There were two shows he hosted covering the Kennedy conspiracy theories, the questionable death of Vatican banker Roberto Calvi, and the petro-dollar Iraq-war conspiracy theory. The shows were filmed for a UK cable channel called SKY ONE titled "Conspiracies."

There were also two shows for the BBC called "Outrageous Fortunes" -- one written about the Bacardi family and the other about the Disney clan.

Finally, Reeve's first book byline wasn't for the Jackals book, but a co-author credit for a book about the 2000 computer (perceived) crises called "The Millenium Time Bomb."

Rename article edit

I'm going to move this article from Simon Reeve to Simon Reeve (UK). There is an Australian television presenter by the same name, and as the UK Simon Reeve is also a television presenter, it's hard to find an namespace for the other which isn't ambiguous. Simon Reeve (UK) and Simon Reeve (Australia) seems like the best option, with Simon Reeve as a disambig page. Tntnnbltn 16:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

As per WP:MoS, Simon Reeve (Australian television presenter) and Simon Reeve (UK television presenter) are the preferred names - I'll move the articles to those titles. -- Chuq 00:35, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'd say he is more than just a television presenter. He wrote articles and books before he was on TV. I'm tempted to say he should be Simon Reeve (UK author) or Simon Reeve (UK journalist). What do you think? Edward 20:09, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree with changing it to Simon Reeve (UK journalist). He started out working at a newspaper (Sunday Times) moving on to be a reporter. He's since written for The Times, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, and The Mirror. tyx (talk)

Puff edit

Please can editors remember that this article is not a promotional page for Reeve. It's not his webpage, blog, hagiography or fansite, it's an encyclopaedia entry. It is there to tell the facts of his life, as you might find them in Encyclopedia Britannica, with the same neutral tone. Much of the text for edits like this was lifted from Reeve's website, the cite for nearly all of the article material. The personal website of the subject counts as self published, suspect and primary material. As a self-edited source it's too much used here. Given the spin and puff that keeps being added, I presume either Reeve or people close to Reeve are adding this material. Span (talk) 16:19, 19 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reeve's publicist, Amy Chapman, is editing the page. See my note to her written in 2005. Edward (talk) 14:31, 20 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've now removed the bombardment of press quotes about the greatness of his work. Armigo (talk) 14:15, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Excessive detail edit

The article is currently far too detailed for a Wikipedia page. I've already removed some trivia, but I'm intending to trim his programme details down to a bare list, to match pages such as Ray Mears and Nicholas Crane, unless anyone can present a compelling reason not to do so. ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 18:06, 12 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Honourary phd edit

This is worth considering for the awards category.
