Whilst referencing, I noticed that Johnx33 had used content from a copyrighted textbook. I am not sure if this content needs to be removed or adapted. I have changed the wording, and referenced the information.

The following text was included in the article: This form of inhibition is termed "shunting" because of the synaptic conductance short-circuit currents that are generated at adjacent excitatory synapses. If a shunting inhibitory synapse is activated, the input resistance is reduced locally and, following Ohm's law, the amplitude of subsequent excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) is reduced.

The following text was included in the copyrighted textbook: The type of effect they were describing for the first time (Fig. 5.5) has since then been referred to as “shunting inhibition” because the synaptic conductance short-circuits currents that are generated at adjacent excitatory synapses. If a shunting inhibitory synapse is activated, the input resistance is reduced locally and, following Ohm’s law, the amplitude of subsequent excitatory postsynaptic potentials (EPSPs) is reduced.

I hope that this issue can be resolved by someone who knows more about the copyright issues than me. Thanks! Bibeyjj (talk) 17:13, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
