Fair use image edit

I'll reply here regarding the conflict of image use in this article. The screenshot of Whitney Dean is used in the Whitney Dean article correctly, it's rationale states that although it's not a free image, it's believed to be used under Wikipedia's fair use policy as it illustrates the subject of the article, it's low resolution, can't be used to make profit and it's pretty much impossible to find a free alternative. That rationale only covers the article for Whitney Dean. You can't use the same rationale to use the same image in this article because it deosn't directly illustrate the subject, (she wouldn't appear like that in real life) and it's not impossible to find a free alternative. Somebody somewhere must have taken a picture of her who can upload it as a public domain image. I hope this answers the question. For further information on this topic go to WP:IUP and WP:NFC. Copyediting edit

I've edited this page because some of the sentences were quite badly phrased. For instance, the first line read that she 'was' a British actress, implying that the poor girl had kicked the bucket! The other changes were minor, just to make it read better. Sky83 (talk) 19:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just taken out "unfortunatly" Eastenders didn't win bit, its quite opinionated, some people may not see it as unfortunate —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.110.34.23 (talk) 16:37, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Date of birth edit

The date of birth given in the text does not match that given in the infobox! Could somebody please correct whichever is incorrect? 86.15.177.56 (talk) 21:50, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

IMDB says 14th, unless anyones got a specific source it can be that. --RedHillian (talk) 22:47, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Irish edit

McGarty's Irishness is being added and removed an awful lot. Can we discuss it here and reach some consensus please instead of reverting and counter-reverting? Thanks. anemoneprojectors 08:56, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

My view is this: McGarty was born in England, making her a British citizen. Per WP:OPENPARAGRAPH, "Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should generally not be in the lead unless it is relevant to the subject's notability". If some ancestor of hers is Irish, it's not her nationality but her ethnicity, so shouldn't be included. anemoneprojectors 08:59, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

This was the reason I was reverting it but didn't know there was a guideline to support it too. To me reading it the way it is makes it sound like her nationality was English at birth but somehow this miraculously became Irish. If it was referring to citizenship it might make more sense, but that's not what is meant here as that isn't in the source. I've seen a few articles use this format without explanation as to what is meant and it is confusing. ~~ Peteb16 (talk) 09:25, 21 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
