Organization edit

The "Controversies" section seems to be 1. The felony conviction, and 2. A list of articles he's written. Here, I rearranged it into what I think is a more logical form. Gershonmk (talk) 06:13, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism edit

Seems like a certain person (who originally vandalized this page under anonymous IP addresses and now did it under his handle) has decided to vandalize this page by deleting various paragraphs and by relocating a paragraph from the controversy section and placing it in the first section, as if this is the only action the subject has committed.

It seems like the vandal has a clear agenda, and a bone to pick with the subject person, thus he is busy vandalizing the page. Flyerman770 (talk) 06:22, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

There's no vandalism as far as I can see, so you should probably stop calling it that. Some of your edits have been problematic as they added a unsourced material; and you are also what we call a single-purpose editor. It would be good if you explained your connection to the subject before editing more.--- Possibly (talk) 06:28, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Explained in the other thread. Flyerman770 (talk) 06:32, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

thanks. Since you are connected, please use this talk page to request article changes in future. I can see what you mean about he lede section, it puts too much emphasis on the arrest. I have tagged the article so that other editors can weigh in.--- Possibly (talk) 06:56, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Issues to fix edit

1. Opening paragraph: A person who serves as a rabbi in a community, a respected rabbi, who is a member of a few Beth Din panels, who was mired in a controversy years ago, in a sting operation, and was the only one who walked away Scot-free because he was never involved in any previous cases. The only thing someone should see about him is that he was involved in a sting operation?! Is that his only "achievement"?!

2. The way the vandal edited his rabbinic career is laughable... everyone knows that shuchat is in the Beth din of the Union of Orthodox rabbis. Heck, he runs it! And the Beth din of the Queens vaad. You call the office and ask to have a din torah and they give you shuchat cell phone number...

To cut the paragraph is laughable, especially the way it is now, that in 2012 he was appointed dayan in chok natan... that beth din was founded in 2018 or 2019...

Those are the two main issues here. Flyerman770 (talk) 14:43, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I fixed (2); it was inadvertant. Unfortunately, "everyone knows" is not good enough for Wikipedia. I agree that the lede could be better. I was just moving content around, not rewriting -- the Controversies section, which listed the conviction and various lectures/open letters/writing, was not appropriate. This article would IMO clearly not qualify for Notability except for the conviction, and even now it's a likely case of WP:1E.
Contrary to your assertions, I had never visited your page before yesterday. If you think I'm lying, the place for that is WP:SPI. GordonGlottal (talk) 15:39, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Tried a new lede, moving most info down. I'd also be happy to add your signature to the infobox, which is available here if you release it under a relevant license. GordonGlottal (talk) 21:39, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't think he will have an issue with putting his signature, his letters are everywhere. Flyerman770 (talk) 21:44, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately it has to be released under the correct license, or with specific permission from the owner of the image. If you have a copy, just upload it to Flickr under a Creative Commons license and I'll post it. GordonGlottal (talk) 21:49, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

See here an official ruling from the Beth Din of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis, where Shuchat is the third signatory as a "Dayan". I guess this serves as enough "proof" that he is indeed a Dayan on the Beth Din:
